The pro gun conservative won in Michigan also.
Let me put it this way, anything that infringes on the Second Amendment is unconstitutional and should be done away with. I don’t understand what your problem is.
This bill does not impinge on any more people than currently fall under the law. It forces the states to computerize their records so the NICS work correctly and honest citizens can have no delay in purchasing a firearm. It also allows for those classified with mental disorders to restore their rights, something that was not easily accomplished before this bill.
If you believe that the states will restore rights immediately you might want to read this Grief Over Gun Permits; Delays In Renewals, Appeals Lead To Suit [CT]. Make sure you go to the source and read the whole article. A guy in CT had his permit revoked and even though the charges against him were dropped leaving him with a clean record, he's going to have to wait until May of 2009 to get a hearing to get his RIGHTS RESTORED!!! So much for being just a matter of sending a letter to the state!
Actually, GOA sent out alerts on every one of those issues urging their membership and those like me who are on their email list(I am not a member of any gun rights organization at the present time. This way, I can operate on behalf of gun owners without any restrictions or conditions.). NRA likes being the showboater but they have no real leg to stand on. If they did, we’d be in a much better position than we are now.
At least there are those who know how to do what the NRA refuses to do... The Heller case will change the debate on the 2nd forever. The NRA better get with it or they will be left behind.
Mike
Abso------lutely...
once upon a time, anyone could mail order firearms from sears/roebuck. A few bad apples wont make a difference if they happen to buy off the shelf in a gun store vs out of some homies trunk. So long as the honest citizen can arm as well...
The average person in the US was a citizen when I was a teenager instead of a subject or peon the way a lot of gun control nuts view them now. How much luck do you think the Brady Bunch would have in 1950? :0)
So restricting firearms from convicted felons and mentally insane is unconstitutional?!
You get the government you deserve.
I believe you have a problem with reading comprehension. Do you actually believe convicted felons and mentally insane people will obey any law?. Do you think gun control has ever prevented crime?. You would persecute innocent people for the acts of criminals. IMHO, that is one of the most stupid things I have heard lately.
