his somewhat shaky Conservative credentials

Shaky?! Romney's positions are more like that of a Democrat. At least they were before he was running for POTUS.

Thompson and Paul are political soul mates, except for the war. Both candidates are strong on federalism which is why I have no problem if Fred's the nominee. Fred's been on the tail-end of some 99-1 votes himself.

Perhaps you should stop laughing and hope that Fred's strong views on federalism will attract the independents and libertarians who are currently supporting Paul to support Fred in the general, because we're going to need those votes to defeat Hillary.

What happened to Roo Paul?

Paul's about as popular as a muslim footbath....and just as low.

"Paul is still more conservative than most on the list.... We could do a LOT worse than put Paul in there."

ROTFLMAO! He's so far right- he's left! That's why all the left wing-nuts, wacky quaker groups, are supporting him. And no, we can't do much worse. May as well vote for that Corvair builder.

Bullshit.

Do you have any evidence that Thompson is a goldbug? L.Ron is.

Any reason to believe Thompson is anti-Israel? L.Ron is.

Any proof that Thompson blames America for 9/11? L.Ron did.

Any reason to believe Thompson would refuse to condemn Ahmadinejad? L.Ron does.

Can you demonstrate for me Thompson's affinity for Troofer nutballs? L.Ron has a history of that crap.

They only support him because he’s against the Iraq war. He’s more conservative on almost every other issue. But I’m sure you already knew that. I’ll be voting for Hunter as he’s basically Ron Paul w/o the Islamocraziness. You can bury your head in the sand if you want though and pretend Bush was any more conservative even with regards to Foreign policy/defending the borders than Paul.

There you go again, Petronski - I'm trying to have a reasonable discussion but you're letting your ass hang out and pinging Jim like some 2nd grader over something I did not say or insinuate.

I accused Thompson of nothing that you insinuated in your post. I explicitly said EXCEPT FOR THE WAR, so that includes Thompson NOT being associated with the Truthers and all that other garbage you posted.

I'm saying that both candidates believe in federalism, and Fred has been on the tail-end of 99-1 votes limiting government and cutting taxes. That plays well with the independents, swing, and libertarian voters who are currently supporting Paul.

Nice to see a Thompson thread degenerate into a Paul-bashing fest, started by post #23. I'm happy with the fact that Fred is taking out Rudy McRomney and have no ill will against him. You Fredheads are starting to reach the sneeringness of Hunter supporters.

EEE is CHA. Likes Fred but pushes Paul. Odd mix on this plain of existence, but makes sense somewhere. I give him credit, he pitches good for FDT so I cut him some Salk.

However, mixing FDT and RP directly is not real helpful to FDT if ya know what I mean...

Doubtful. He’s against Roe vs Wade, he’s in favor of reducing largess, cut taxes, building the wall, etc. Even Republicans are about equally split on Iraq. But you keep on telling yourself whatever you want to make yourself feel good about your ridiculous anti-paulism. As weird as he is about Iraq, some of you on FR are equally as weird about him (despite the fact that there are other far graver concerns to our country than him even if he did get elected)

No, but that hardly makes him non conservative.

Any reason to believe Thompson is anti-Israel? L.Ron is.

Really? Prove it

Any proof that Thompson blames America for 9/11? L.Ron did.

When Bush ran for office even HE said we were too involved oversees as did most Republicans. We have stuck our nose in far too many foreign affairs in the last 40 years including funding Saddam & OBL. To deny this is stupidity.

Any reason to believe Thompson would refuse to condemn Ahmadinejad? L.Ron does.

Link?

Can you demonstrate for me Thompson's affinity for Troofer nutballs? L.Ron has a history of that crap.

Proof?

Paul and Thompson are both strong on federalism. That's all I'm saying. I did not accuse Thompson of sharing Paul's flawed view on the war (and that includes foreign policy as well).

The non-sequitur attacks on Paul on Thompson threads is really disgusting. Why even mention him? Just promote Fred and help him win the nomination and defeat Rudy and Romney, and his views on federalism will win over most of the independent and libertarian voters in the general to defeat Hillary, because they sure in the Hell ain't voting for the other GOP nominees.

The amount of ad hominem attacks thrown by some of the ‘conservatives’ on here seriously disgust me. Especially the ones who actually believe that Iraq is the Holy Grail of conservatism (it isn’t) even though I’m 100% at odds with Ron Paul on Iraq and 55% on overseas policy in general.

Ron paul is no conservative. Well ok, if there was such a think as a “left and right” within a Marxist party, you might call him a little on the conservative side in a Marxist government.

The guy is a moonbat plain and simple.
MOST people can see that, which is why he has less than 1% support.
