Twenty years ago...the national party’s and the media could have been secure in putting out a message that was basically bogus. The public wasn’t smart enough, and we didn’t have to the tools to chase down a story.

Go look at the timeline. How long did it take to dismantle this story? Less than 24 hours? The Rather story on GW...72 hours to hit the internet, and another 24 hours to hit the major networks (well...Fox first and then a week later for the other networks).

What you are looking at is a powerful use of the internet to connect the dots and have people chase down certain aspects of a story. We can have some story start out of Provo, Utah...and FreeRepublic can have five or six guys there in town checking out facts and asking the right questions. Within 24 hours...a huge story can be corrected or dumped because of the power of the internet. The national media? Worthless from this point on.

Why would they care? There's no way that the MSM will even allow cricket chirping on this story. This is exactly the sort of thing that the media WANTS to project. When they can't do stories about how stupid Bush is, their second favorite thing (and one they haven't been able to do very often, as can be seen by the huge spending growth) is to do stories about how mean and heartless Bush and conservatives are.

We'll never hear a peep about this, except in conservative and libertarian forums like this one. And the general population of the US, at least those who hear about the poor kids who didn't have insurance, will never know the truth. And those who couldn't be bothered to find out the false story will hear third party accounts of how mean Bush is.

This guy is young and has chosen not to carry insurance. Something Republicans have said is logical. So what are the Democrats bitching about, their spokesman is practicing what we are preaching. If they had their way he would be forced to cut some cost somewhere to purchase insurance. Of course the fact that he is allowed to get medical care and foist the expense on to his neighbor is abhorrent but no more so than every Mexican that sneaks across the border getting free medical care.

This is the substance. The symbolism is already out there. The dems don't care about substance---ever.

The dems have proven that once you get the symbolism out there, and there's very little coverage out there--except in locations where Republicans can read it and know about it...you still have your base and those that don't pay attention to anything but their daily lives that believe your symbolism, and you win.

SAD ...so very sad...but very, very true.

Doesn't matter. The press reports what the Dems tell them to report.

Let’s not forget ... Nancy Pelosi is FROM Baltimore. Her father and brother were Mayor(s) of Baltimore. Perhaps these are old family friends who would be willing to put their kid up for ‘the cause.’

I guess they figured we would never find out the truth.

Can anyone say insurance fraud? With the money and assets listed in this report, it would lead one to believe that this family withheld vital information in order to qualify for SCHIPS. That is a federal crime and also unethical.

The Dems know that a lie is halfway around the world before the truth puts on its shoes.

Remember Winnifred Skinner, the septuagenarian woman who turned up at a Gore event in 2000 talking about how she had to walk alongside highways picking up aluminum cans to eat after paying for her prescription meds? After the MSM was lavishing attention on her, endlessly showing footage of her picking up cans and bottles, CNS News called her and interviewed her. Turns out she isn't in favor of the taxpayers paying for her medicine, she just wanted to earn the money herself. To that end, she turned down offers of help from relatives, and she refuses to file to receive food stamps even though she qualifies.

The real kicker is that she was asked to attend the Gore event and tell her story of can collecting by the United Auto Workers union, which pays her a pension of $129 per month.

That's what I thought, but then again, we are talking about liberals.

The loopy Dems are so delirious and hateful of everything Bush/GOP, they couldn't see a freakin' stampede of buffalo if it was about to run them over.

They blind themselves to truth -

“The Dems had to know this was coming. It’s so stupid I don’t know if I believe it.”

Honestly, I think it’s brazen testament to the fact that the Dems and their biatches the MSM, can put any story on the nightly news and it will be swallowed hook, line and sinker.

And if you DARE to question any of it, you’re just an unfeeling, heartless neocon.
