I heard him interviewed on Limbaugh last week. Have not read the book yet. In the interview he came across as an honest and honorable man.

Justice Thomas has been attacked in just about every way possible. None of these criticisms really deal with what really cause his detractors pain, his political views. Their all ad hominem attacks on his personality.

This book is going to be my husband’s and sons’ Christmas presents. What the left will never comprehend is the strength of character Clarence Thomas has and has exhibited through his horrendous hearing and to this day.

I have ordered the book and should have in a day or two.

He is one of the few living famous(?) people I’d like to meet.

Who was the (NPR commentator I think) person who said she hoped Justice Thomas’s wife fed him lots of high fat food so he would die an early death?

Justice Thomas gave a very moving speech and Q&A to some young students. Alas, it seems to be no longer available.

Justice Clarence Thomas is my idea of the very finest thing a man can be. And an American can be. And a judge can be. Am I making my point here :)

The left/democrats support affirmative action. But when one of their poor people rises above the rhetoric they attack him with vile innuendo's.

Meanwhile a white man that dodged the draft, had multiple accusations of sexual impropriety is their hero.

Hi, since this is a draft (correct) forth paragraph last sentence might want to be reconsidered. You will get slammed with that sentence.

I heard him interviewed (at least in part) twice the other day - once by Rush and I think I heard him interviewed by Laura Ingraham. He strikes me as be truly brilliant, honest, hard-working, and humble. I think I'd rather meet him than George W. Bush and I'd certainly rather meet him than any of the current crop of idiots in Hollywood.

I am not black but I am conservative and a few of my friends who happen to be black are mostly conservative as well so I know you are not alone.

Thanks for the Post,

Justice Thomas is a fine man and fine justice. It just drives the libs daffy because he is sane and they aren’t. Also he has morals and and they don’t.

Nice read, Tbm. Justice Thomas can explain himself so well, that the Left want to keep him silenced. They are in a fit that he has written this beautiful autobiography.

The commentary this morning on Reliable Sources actually criticized 60 Minutes for airing the Croft-Thomas interview without interviewing Anita Hill. How many “book” interviews on 60 Minutes have rebullals on the show? Since they almost always do pro-left agenda books, I bet they never do rebuttals.

They just cannot tolerate conservative statements to stand on their merits.

Clarence Thomas is a wonderful role model for all children, especially those who are living in difficult circumstances.

Well since you asked for it! :-)

Justice Clarence Thomas must be chuckling to himself as his detractors are running around like enraged monkeys all in a fuss over his new book “My Grandfather’s Son.”

For years, Justice Thomas has quietly stood by while his liberal socialist detractors have openly attacked his rulings from the bench, his convictions and intelligence. Through it all, Thomas has remained unbowed and continues to stand tall above his detractors and token lapdogs[Huh?].

In his book, Justice Thomas states that his Grandfather always expected him to be successful and that failure was never acceptable, something that many young Blacks in America could benefit from hearing today.

Justice Thomas’ detractors claim that he was neither qualified nor had the interest of Black Americans in mind in his rulings. In reality what Justice Thomas' detractors really wanted was a puppet and an activist judge. Justice Thomas was neither. In their minds he had to be destroyed, thus they put Anita Hill in a pretty dress, make up, and created talking points during his 1989 confirmation hearing. Ms. Hill proved to be an example of what you find when you go to a liberal university, wave a few hundred dollars, and promise someone 15 minutes of fame.

Ms. Hill struck me as neither truthful nor very intelligent as she testified before the Judicial Committee Hearing. Every time Ms. Hill spoke, I swear I could see then National Organization for Women’s President Patricia Ireland waving at the cameras from the back of her throat. Justice Thomas is more than right when he states in his book that it was all about abortion and had nothing to do with supposed sexual harassment. Abortion Rights has been seen as a holy grail by the modern Democrat Party and their token sellouts. For those Blacks who are informed, abortion has amounted to nothing more than the ethnic cleansing of our once proud community. Thank God for Justice Thomas standing on conviction and not doing what is expected from a sellout token who seeks to belong to a party that only wants his vote.

The National Organization for Women(NOW) is nothing more than the liberal shock troop of the Democrat Party, just like its counterparts - the NAACP and AFL-CIO. Any minority group of men or woman which does not meet their approval has to be destroyed, just as they tried to do with Justice Thomas.

"...but in reality what Justice Thomas’s detractors really want is a puppet and an activist judge and Justice Thomas was neither, so in their minds he had to be destroyed...."

This is the money shot in my mind. Because it is the heart of the matter perhaps making it 2 sentences will add some punch to the statement. For instance, ...activist judge. Since JT was neither in their minds he needed to be destroyed.... Good job.

Thomas was nominated because he opposed abortion. The left, led by NOW immediately set out to destroy him. Not finding anything in his past that would disqualify him, they paid an operative to invent stories, which were picked up by the media and the NOW gang and accepted without question as truth, and broadcast all over the media.
They were willing to crucify him just so they could have their sacrament: abortion.

The primary mission of the Democrat party is to turn America into a Euro-style, secular socialist welfare state. Abortion is simply a weapon of opportunity which they used to dust off whenever they had to. Plus, abortion has always been critical to the rat fundraising machinery - - it’s right up there with the “jackpot justice” trial lawyers’ lobby as far as being a source of loads of cool campaign cash - - but in the end, it all comes down to socialism and the fascist power that Democrat politicians can wield when they have finally stripped Americans of their freedom by determining winners and losers through oppressive taxation and redistribution. (Whew! That was some sentence...!).

The rats fully understand that their agenda will never be realized through elections and so they long ago directed their energies toward packing the courts with liberal activists. They are just fine with implementing their aganda through judicial fiat. The last thing the rats want are justices who respects the Constitution and understand that the Constitution contains ITS OWN mechanism for change and revision - - the amendment process.

No, the rats need justices who will rule based on the chic political correctness of the day; they need justices who see the Constitution merely as a “guideline”, a “living document” and to hell with the cumbersome amendment process. They need more justices like Ginsburg, Stevens, Souter, and especially Breyer.

By no stretch of the imagination did Judge Thomas match that description. What made matters worse for the rats was that Thomas was black, and the rats had always figured that THEY were the ones who would appoint black justices, and those black justices would ALWAYS be reliable liberal activists like Thurgood Marshall.

No. Judge Thomas did not fit the bill, not at all. The rats HAD to stop his confirmation by any means necessary, and abortion was the tool they used to incite the bitter bull-dykes of the feminist left. (Remember, at that time the radical feminist left was still a credible and powerful political lobby in this country, much the way the MoveOn mice and the Kos Kidz are today, and each group knew that their fortunes rose and fell together.)

To summarize, the rats knew that Thomas stood in the way of their agenda. They used abortion as a tool to incite the feminist left, who they knew would take up thre fight to stop Judge Thomas’s confirmation. Sure enough, the feminist left went into full battle mode and came up with Anita Hill and that woman judge from California who was nailed cold as a liar by none other than Arlen Specter.

Fortunately, the attempt at a high-tech lynching fell flat on its face. (Justice Thomas is my favorite SC justice.)

By the way, have you noticed that abortion is not nearly the powerful tool for the Democrats that it once was? The rats have downplayed the issue as part of their strategy to con the ignorant chattering class into believing that they, the Democrats, believe in God and have values, etc. Additionally, Americans are generally sick and tired of the abortion battle. So now abortion is mainly a weapon that Republicans use against each other. Ironic, isn’t it?

Well, you asked for opinions!

Regards,
LH

Second sentence: ... his liberal socialist detractors have openly attacked his ruling from the bench, his convictions and intelligent, but ... should be revised to ... his convictions and intellect, and pluralize rulings from the bench to match.

Good article, and the Malveau comment was abhorrent. I recall emailing Bonnie Erbe a couple of times a few years ago, but her responses were well left of anything I can accept for truth and honesty. Best wishes.

Judge Thomas did a great interview on Hannity’s America show tonight. He puts a proper perspective on how he was mistreated by Democrats during his confirmation hearings, which should have been some of the proudest moments of his life.
