Thompson is the Left’s worst nightmare. A charming, affable conservative.

“Does NBC have any non-left wingers?”

NBC’s entire marketing strategy, apparently, is to appeal to the DU.

we are doing the clinton work for them.
fred was fine and actually added a bit of class and a few jokes too. he put Chrissy in her place and finished up great.
i wonder how many of these Fred bashers are not just DU trolls here to rain on Fred big day?

PMSNBC was declaring McCain the “comeback kid” as soon as the debate ended.

They kept the bong out of camera sight.

Looks like that’s what presidents have done and will do in the future.....Imagine that.

September 25, 2001

MEMORANDUM OPINION FOR THE DEPUTY COUNSEL TO THE PRESIDENT

You have asked for our opinion as to the scope of the President’s authority to take military action in response to the terrorist attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001. We conclude that the President has broad constitutional power to use military force. Congress has acknowledged this inherent executive power in both the War Powers Resolution, Pub. L. No. 93-148, 87 Stat. 555 (1973), codified at 50 U.S.C. §§ 1541-1548 (the “WPR”), and in the Joint Resolution passed by Congress on September 14, 2001, Pub. L. No. 107-40, 115 Stat. 224 (2001). Further, the President has the constitutional power not only to retaliate against any person, organization, or State suspected of involvement in terrorist attacks on the United States, but also against foreign States suspected of harboring or supporting such organizations. Finally, the President may deploy military force preemptively against terrorist organizations or the States that harbor or support them, whether or not they can be linked to the specific terrorist incidents of September 11. http://www.usdoj.gov/olc/warpowers925.htm

Willard, what do you think your powers are in this case?

Ask my lawyer.

Well, Willard, do you need to ask the Congress?

I SAID, ASK MY LAYWER!

Considering this is likely to be the worst Thompson looks from now on, it was beyond fine. If THAT is supposed to be the big gaffe, then those hoping for him to fail are grasping at straws.

Considering the only people paying attention now are political junkies, its just exhibition season.

I don’t think anything about these “debates” does one bit of good in showing who is the best guy. I don’t know how to manage this many candidates. But it would even make more sense to have a one on one round robin “tournament” than this crapfest.

I saw that speech too and had the same reaction you did to it.

on the economy where clearly these guys didn't do their homework
I didn't see the debate but I listened to a lot of it on Hannity radio and I heard a lot of good economic sense, centered on the concept of lower taxes bringing higher revenue, a concept that Fred emphasized strongly and a concept that obviously this writer, along with all liberals, have a genetic inability to grasp.
