“I had the same knee jerk reaction you did, but then did the math. Iranian military capability reached its modern peak in the late 1970s, during the reign of Reza Shah Pahlevi., is correct. Reza Shah Pahlevi was deposed in 1979 & died in 1980.”
Hi. The Iranian monarch who was deposed of in 1979 and subsequently died in 1980 was “Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi”. Born: 1919 - Died: 1980 - Reign: 1941 to 1979.

“Reza Shah Pahlavi” was “Mohammad Reza Shah’s” or “The Shah’s” father, also referred to as “Reza Shah the Great”, the founder of the Pahlavi Dynasty. Born: March 16, 1878 - Died: July 26, 1944 (aged 66) in Johannesburg, South Africa. Reigned: December 15, 1925 - September 16, 1941.

The current Iranian “Crown Prince” - Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi’s eldest son - who lives in exile in the US, is also called “Reza Pahlavi” or as some Iranians refer to him “Reza Shah II”.
Non-Iranians often seem to confuse the names of “Mohmmad Reza Shah Pahlavi” and his father “Reza Shah Pahlavi”. They are two different Kings of Iran. It is a mistake and would be similar to a non-American confusing “Theodore Roosevelt” with “Franklin D. Roosevelt”.
Thanx for the correction & heads up.
re post #42, fyi for potential future info. and what seems to be ongoing misunderstandings.
