Attention California Gun Owners: Please Contact Governor Schwarzenegger Today!

Three pieces of firearm-related legislation are currently on the desk of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) awaiting his consideration.

Assembly Bill 1471 would require that after a certain date, the make, model, and serial number of a firearm be microstamped onto the interior surface or internal working parts of all handguns in such a manner that those identifiers are imprinted onto the cartridge case upon firing. The manufacture, sale, and transfer of handguns that do not imprint their identifying information on a cartridge case would be a crime.

Assembly Bill 821 would ban the use of lead ammunition for hunting in areas occupied by California condor. By passing AB 821, the Legislature has usurped the authority of the Fish and Game Commission over the regulation of hunting and the management of the state’s wildlife. Unlike the Fish and Game Commission, the Legislature did not take into account the effects of a lead ammunition ban on the state’s hunters. Studies show that a ban will force many hunters to quit hunting altogether having catastrophic consequences on wildlife management practices and the state’s hunting heritage.

Assembly Bill 1645 will protect law-abiding gun owners during a declared state of emergency from the seizure or confiscation of any lawfully carried or possessed firearm or ammunition.

Please contact the Governor and respectfully urge him to veto AB1471 and AB821.  Also remind him to protect your Second Amendment rights during a state of emergency by signing AB1645.  Governor Schwarzenegger can be reached by phone at (916) 445-2841, fax at (916) 445-4633, or visit http://gov.ca.gov/interact#email to send him an email.

The anti-gun creatures have slithered back into power in DC, and in CA they've been there all along. Let's give them a black eye.

I have returned to California after a 30 year absence.

When I grew up here in the central valley, I can remember at the age of 14 riding my bicycle, and a buddy on his after school...carrying our shotguns to hunt pheasant.

Nowdays we'd make the news nationwide for such an act. What a tremendous change.

I've even discovered that I have a pistol that I purchased in WA state that I MAY have to surrender because it runs afoul of an obscure law about a composite body with no steel parts.

Anyone know more about that one?

Thanks for the heads up.

I’m contacting family and friends to let them know.

Me too! Just sent mine. AB 1471 & 821 have their own line
in the issues. You have to use the Gun Control issue line for AB 1645.

A little known part of the law.

It makes using a revolver illegal when committing crimes with a gun. All brass must be left at the scene.

AB 1471 isn’t about micro stamping. It’s about stamping out semi-auto handgun ownership (gun control).

An armed populace is an anathema to the political class. Don't count on the Austrian pretender to support US constitutional rights, let alone expand the protections of the 2nd Amendment.

By all means, be assertive regarding preservation of your right to keep and bear arms but don't be foolish enough to believe that a European liberal will support your efforts.

The Austrian's dabbling in US politics is a matter of convenience, not obligation.

A quick scan of the NRA/ILA CA gun law summary doesn't reveal anything like that, but I'd check with the CA Attorney General's Bureau of Firearms as well.

I did find this which certainly applies to your situation:

Within 60 days of bringing a pistol, revolver or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person into this state, the person importing the firearm must complete and return a Department of Justice registration form or sell or transfer the firearm to a licensed dealer, or transfer the gun to a sheriff or police department. Registration of rifles and shotguns is not required.

Hope you don't have a Chech Zavasta SKS, as they are considered "Destructive Devices" because they have a grenade launcher

Of course without a rifle grenade, you can't destroy anything with it, except what you could destroy with any other 7.62x39 firearm.

Please Contact Governor Schwarzenegger Today!

It's not like begging a RINO to protect your RKBA is likely to have any effect at all. Especially one who won't be running for reelection.

You can check to see if your handgun is "certified" for sale in CA at this page.

'All brass must be left at the scene' Huh? does this mean you can't hunt with a .480 Ruger Super Redhawk?

Time to beg the politicos again? Beg for them to uphold the Constitution? Ask them nicely to be able to retain our rights? Write them? Email them? Bribe them with money?

California seems hardly a part of the US anymore. But we still have some patriots left.

Maybe so, but a vocal populace is what possibly might induce the radical democrat state assembly here in CA to leave well enough alone.

Typical California law, but all law abiding criminal gang bangers will be sure to manually eject their brass when done shooting.

821 should be noted will lead to people using steel core ammo , of course it doesn’t work very well but it’s cheap and it’s not lead... In Florida we had several fires started by people with their SKS’s and Chinese steel core ammo making sparks... Kalifornia doesn’t have a wildfire problem does it?

Well, it looks like he signed this POS.

Schwarzenegger is the worst thing to happen to the California GOP in a long time. I’m gonna start counting down the 3 years he has left.
