“Dubious documents include Social Security cards,!bank statements!, consulate cards and out-of-state driver’s licenses, as well as identification from Mexico, Brazil, El Salvador, Costa Rica and other countries.

“Perhaps a large portion of people that are offending with bogus documents happen to be Latinos,” said Angel Lopez, attorney ...“But it’s equally plausible that Latinos are being ferreted out in the first place because clerks do not understand the validity of documents that seem strange and foreign.”

David Simon, acting consul of the Mexican Consulate in Portland, said the consulate wants the state agency to rely on it to validate certain forms of identification before calling police... “

Okay so mexican aliens are trying to pass off fraudulent ID,
including BANK STATEMENTS in order to get a very valuable legitimate form of ID, and the Mexican Consulate wants to dictate to us which documents WE should accept ???

WTF ! If a person trys to use a bank statement as ID obviously something is very wrong. ANy legit person would have a passport or other normal form of ID if they are legal.

It is illegal to use SSN and TIN for identification, but for the purpose of obtaining a Driver’s License it is probably the best suited. Even though SSN and TIN’s can be purchased off the black market.
