Saudi Cash for al Qaeda
Weekly Standard | Frontpagemagazine ^ | October 11, 2007 | Thomas Joscelyn

Posted on 10/11/2007 5:21:08 AM PDT by SJackson

The Treasury Department announced today that it had designated three Saudi nationals as Specially Designated Global Terrorists (“SDGTs”). All three are accused of providing funds to al Qaeda’s affiliate in the Philippines, the Abu Sayyaf Group (“ASG”). The first, Abdul Rahim Al-Talhi, is described as an “al Qaida-affiliated financier, a loyal colleague of Usama bin Laden, and a member of a Saudi Arabia-based donor network funding terrorists and supporting extremist activity.” The second, Muhammad ‘Abdallah Salih Sughayr, is the “principal conduit” for “unidentified Saudi extremist donors wishing to provide financial and ideological support to the ASG network in the Philippines.” And the third, Fahd Muhammad ‘Abd Al-‘Aziz Al-Khashiban, “gave then-ASG leader Khadaffy Janjalani approximately US $18,000 to finance a planned ASG bombing operation targeting either the U.S. or the Australian embassy in Manila [in the early 2000s].” The plot was disrupted by Philippine authorities “before its completion,” but “Khashiban continued to routinely provide money to the ASG.”

I thought of two things, primarily, when reading this today. First, every account I’ve read has said that the Saudis have been fairly unhelpful in cracking down on the jihadi finance network operating on their own soil. As Investor’s Business Daily wrote in late September:

US Passport bearer turned down at the Saudi Embassy in Jordan and said I can’t cross their country even for a 3 day bus transit.
Funny how high on the preferred list of American friends in the Middle East. I was told that they DO have elections in this country, EVERY year. They vote for the Chamber of Commerce President, Everyone else is appointed by the Royal Family. I guess it is M.E. version of democracy. It didn’t work for the Royal family in Iraq!

Their day will come. Those fat morons will be tossed off their oil rigs, and then they’ll beg America to save their powdered bottoms from the jihadist revolution they helped spawn.

I have heard the saudis hold terrorist fund-raisers, (TV coverage, asking for money) as well as several other countries (iran, jordan, pallies, etc.) using TV as the media to raise money across the middle east. If this is the case, all of these nations should be classified as terrorist states.

Now I do not know if this information is correct, but I suspect Americans are not being told the truth, which is normal operating procedure. So would I be surprised if this information is correct and true? No, and neither should anyone else. Somewhere someone knows. I wonder how long before the denials start?

This guy laundered Saudi money earmarked for terrorist operations through his Washington, DC operation:

He knows. Richard Perle knows. And they will not talk.

An Excellent primer on terrorist funding: search FreeRepublic GOLDENCHAIN Keyword.

There are two intersecting circles: Saudi AQ circle (terrorist operrations and Islamic influence) and Heroin circle (Afghanistan-Turkey).

If you dig deep enough, it will make you feel sick in your stomach.

"...Their day will come. Those fat morons will be tossed off their oil rigs, and then they’ll beg America to save their powdered bottoms from the jihadist revolution they helped spawn..."

Those 'fat-morons' will fly away to their distant palaces that they've all built in various other foreign countries when the shit-hits-the-fan. They keep a fleet of jets fueled and at the ready for just such an occasion.

The Saudis are, and have been for over 30 years, the largest financiers of world terrorism, and their surrogate States that they've used for years are dwindling. Afghanistan and Iraq are in American hands, Syria and Iran are starting their slide down the razor blade of life, and Libya tossed in the towel.

The truly disgusting relationship is between the Saudi Royal Family and the Bush Royal Family. It borders on incestuous.

"...Americans are not being told the truth, which is normal operating procedure..."

It's doubtful that Americans will ever learn the truth, and it's staring them smack in the face. Iranian IEDs are killing American Forces every day, and Iran is still not reduced to rubble ............................ FRegards

Why just stop only these three? Put a ban on all Saudi “charitable” committees and organizations, they are providing far more than US $18,000!
