Ron Paul: Give Peace a Chance-no possible reason to ever launch military action or initiate a war

Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul said today that he could see no possible reason to ever launch military action or initiate a war, vowing instead to battle efforts he said are undermining the individual liberties of people in America.
In an interview with Washingtonpost.com's PostTalk program, the Texas congressman said he could see "no reason" to justify military action if he were elected president. He compared the United States to a schoolyard bully and said the country has no reason to flex its muscles overseas.
"There's nobody in this world that could possibly attack us today," he said in the interview. "I mean, we could defend this country with a few good submarines. If anybody dared touch us we could wipe any country off of the face of the earth within hours. And here we are, so intimidated and so insecure and we're acting like such bullies that we have to attack third-world nations that have no military and have no weapon."
Paul has been intensely opposed to the war in Iraq and to a potential attack against Iran during his campaign for the presidency. During this week's GOP debate in Dearborn, Mich., he once again became red-faced as he blasted the Middle East war effort.
"The thought that the Iranians could pose an imminent attack on the United States is preposterous," he said Tuesday night. "There's no way. This is just war propaganda, continued war propaganda, preparing this nation to go to war and spread this war not only in Iraq, but into Iran, unconstitutionally. It is a road to disaster for us as a nation."
But during the PostTalk interview, Paul said he does not believe he is too angry to be president.

I could be wrong but I do believe something happened on 9/11/01 that a few good submarines couldn’t protect us from.

He’ s giving Libertarians a bad name.
I can’t vote for the Socialists/Democrats.
I voted Republican for the past 30 years but after the disaster with amnesty this summer, no more.
I wanted to vote Libertarian. But Ron Paul is trashing the Libertarian’s credibility.

He’d answer that they’d never do that to us, same way as he did with Iran, when asked, to avoid answering the question.

At first I put some stock in that. He's just catering to the kook fringe. But no longer. Statements such as this are even beyond that absurdity. This is delusional. I'm beginning to wonder whether he's suffering from some yet undiscovered mental issue.
The man is 74 years old, IIRC. I watched a video yesterday where he was supposedly being interviewed by some preppy in his dorm room. Paul seemed boyishly delighted with the attention he was being shown. It was very strange to watch. Something just doesn't seem right here.

Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul said today that he could see no possible reason to ever launch military action or initiate a war...If anybody dared touch us we could wipe any country off of the face of the earth within hours.Notice the contradiction? If there is never a 'possible reason to ever launch military action or initiate war', then we, by definition, would never 'wipe any country off of the face of the earth within hours'. So knowing this should Dr. Paul become Commander in Chief, any country wanting to do us harm has a green light.
This is the level of thought by a person seeking the office of the Presidency? Frightening!

Ron Paul is asleep at the wheel in regards to his congressional campaign. Paul has never done much of anything for his district and typically he isn't paying any attention to us right now. All he has ever done is vote against just about everything and he has never authored any legislation by himself that got out of committee much less was passed.
Chris Peden can take Ron Paul's congressiona seat if he starts raising more money. The rumor is that in recent days that has started to happen.
I worked on some of Ron Paul's early campaigns. I'd describe him in one word but I'd likely get banned here. Suffice to say he's not the most pleasant chap and is a real donkeyhole.
There is only one way Ron Paul could win. That is if he eliminates the competition.

no possible reason to ever launch military action or initiate a war
I hope I wake up some day and hear that Ron Paul is getting paid for saying this stuff. At least then I could chalk it up to dishonesty and not have to deal with a smart guy in our party who's unbelievably ignorant.
I wonder why the Constitution made the president commander in chief and provided for war if there's no reason ever to initiate war? His very words reveal he is unqualified.
