I’ve fired the XD 45 caliber in both the 4” version and the 5” version. It is a VERY nice handgun. Think of a glock with a few improvements. The gunshop owner where I buy my handguns tells me the XD is the fastest selling handgun he’s ever seen. He carries one himself. I think of the XD as basically a glock but with a better shaped grip frame that fits your hand better. The grip is also thinner due to the mags not having a thick plastic coating.
I also like the grip and trigger safeties as an improvement on the Glock. I don’t have a whole lot of experience with Glocks, but I know some folks who don’t think the safeties are adequate; haven’t heard that complaint about the XD.
