Coulter's anti-Semitic comment too dangerous to ignore
LA Times ^ | Oct 13 2007 | Tim Rutten

Posted on 10/14/2007 10:41:22 PM PDT by freedomdefender

Perhaps the best response came from the Anti-Defamation League, which called Coulter's comments "outrageous, offensive and a throwback to the centuries-old teaching of contempt for Jews and Judaism. The notion that Jews are religiously inferior or imperfect because they do not accept Christian beliefs was the basis for 2,000 years of church-based anti-Semitism. While she is entitled to her beliefs, using mainstream media to espouse the idea that Judaism needs to be replaced with Christianity and that each individual Jew is somehow deficient and needs to be "perfected" is rank Christian supersessionism and has been rejected by the Catholic Church and the vast majority of mainstream Christian denominations. Clearly, Ann Coulter needs a wake-up call about the power of words to injure others and fuel hatred. She needs an education, too, about the roots of anti-Semitism."

That she does. As the league points out, "supersessionism," the theological notion that Christianity "completes" or "perfects" Judaism is, along with the deicide libel, anti-Semitism's major theological underpinning. Indeed, in Central and Western Europe between the world wars, there was a substantial body of purportedly "respectable" intellectual opinion that held "supersessionism" made possible a "reasonable" theological anti-Semitism that was entirely licit, as opposed to the Nazis' and fascists' illicit, "racially based" anti-Semitism. It is fair to say that the rails leading to Auschwitz were greased by precisely the opinion Coulter expressed on American television this week.

Except for the fact that the Nazis weren't Christian.

Ann spoke straightforward Christian doctrine, and she’s being roasted for it. A gutsy woman - and a troubling sign that Christianity is under attack by the media and the elites.

LA Times Anti-Christian comments to dangerous to ignore

An LA Times article recommends the burning of all copies of the New Testament, the closure of all Christian churches and the banning of the Christian faith.

As a Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Al Gore Junior is in the company of two prominent anti-semites, Jimmy Carter and Yassir Arafat.

The LA Times ever condemn THOSE guys?

For anyone interested in another article about Ann Coulter. Kevin McCullough’s article from the front page of the KRLATownhall site is a good one. One quote I liked from it was...

“What was demonstrated was that Ann has a knack for offending the ignorant.”

Good place to bump this thread.

Islamofascists get a free pass when they talk about murdering, raping, and brutalizing infidels. But talk about a spiritual change in a person where their body was unharmed, and liberals go nuts with their antichristian bigotry.

Media Matters is behind this smear. They went from bashing Rush to bashing Ann Coulter.

The tactic is nothing new. Hillary Clinton is a known Stalinist who takes down political enemies by any means necessary.

Jospeh McCarthy was an amateur compared to the Stalinists.

ok now this is really getting stupid. While Ann isn’t exactly the best thing to happen to conservatives, she is not evil.

Coulter is speaking as a Christian Conservative. How else is she supposed to answer that question?

The Left is trying to equate her statement as if she wants to wipe people out with violence. That’s just stupid but goes to prove how desperate they have become in trying to take her down.

Let’s try the opposite... there should be no Christians. We been there, done that. It’s called the Dark Ages.

“Ann spoke straightforward Christian doctrine”

Our preacher in church today (I think he’s pretty Liberal politically but conservative theologically) made just a slight reference to many of the early Christians in the church being Jews that had “fullfilled their Jewishness when they became Christians” or something similar - I know he used the word “fullfilled”. Not sure it means the same thing as “perfected” but pretty darn close. I have a feeling he hadn’t heard of the whole Ann Coulter imagininary blow-up.

It was in regard to eating meat offerings made to the idols in Corinth that were then sold in the shop for each temple. Making the distinction between former idol-worshiping Gentiles that became Christian to Jews that became Christian.

too dangerous to ignore

We are living in the twilight zone.

The dimRAts insult and belittle and call General Petraeus a liar in front of the world. They run and ad calling him a betrayer - they falsely accuse Rush of saying something he didn't and even introduce a resolution to condemn him in the HOUSE, falsely claiming he disrespected out troops, (after the things said by Murtha, Kerry and Reid) They call for a condemnation on one of our most valuable allies in the ME, that they know (PLAN ON) could cut off food, water and equipment to the troops - hoping to undermine the success the troops have fought and died for....and the press (mouthpieces for the Traitorous Rats...once again, twisting the words of a conservative, are attempting to - with straight faces - make what Coulter said a world shaking event.

These people are certifiably = EVIL

The people who condemn Ann for her THEOLOGICAL beliefs are the same ones demanding that Christians whisper “Merry Christmas” in closets and instead greet the world with “Season’s Greetings”.

Michael “Savage” savaged Ann and then made his own comment about how Christians follow this odd offshoot of Judaism. He neglected to mention that in his own worldview Christians follow a FALSE prophet. ‘

Are we going to have THEOLOGICAL debate or just smear the Christians?

Hands up for those who would be just as vigorous in saying that Scientologists are “right”. And the wiccan. And the Moonies...

I can be tolerant of your different theological belief system but I don’t have to give it ANY creedence.
