A group of congressmen is demanding an investigation into the treatment of two former Border Patrol agents in prison for shooting an admitted drug dealer near the Mexican border, saying the conditions are far worse than those of suspected terrorists being held at the U.S. Naval Base Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, California Republican, and Rep. John Culberson, Texas Republican who have championed the fight for Ignacio "Nacho" Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean will deliver a letter detailing their concerns today to Attorney General-designate Michael B. Mukasey. More than three dozen House members have signed it.
Ramos is serving his sentence in a medium-security prison in the Southwest. He was transferred from the Yazoo correctional facility in Mississippi earlier this year after suspected gang members recognizing the high-profile inmate beat him.
He is unable to serve his sentence in a minimum-security prison camp owing to the 10-year mandatory minimum for unlawful discharge of a firearm during a crime of violence. The charge is one issue in their cases under appeal in the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans.

this is just ridiculous. if there ever was an innocent person in jail it is them. It should be as plain as daylight for President Bush. These 2 INS Agent deserve nothing less than a full pardon and reinstatement of their jobs.
Hope something can be done!
Sad but true.
The same goes for his buddy the prosecutor. What IS their problem? They are clearly going after the WRONG people.
Perhaps the Mexican drug thug is supplying someone they know with the substance of choice. I would have NEVER thought that my President would EVER take part or be a part of something like this.
It’s about time. No, actually, it’s well past time.
I-ronic isn’t it...
Makes you wonder if an 11th hour pardon is being considered sometime late next year...
But I am not holding my breath...Nor do I believe I would accept a pardon from the President for principled reasons in this case...If it was me...
The disparity of justice for reasons of contemporary fairness these days, in my opinion leaves me with an extreme lack of trust in our judicial and relevant legislative system and in the way it functions...
When the Law Enforcement community in general is scrutinized more than the perpetrators of crime in this country (especially in this case)...I believe this is a slope we need to sand real fast, or we be in big heap trouble down the road...
Of course I believe we are already there...But who really cares...
Thank God, and I Pray the Unjust Sentences of Ramos and Compean are Overturned.

Jorge Bush has his good Mexicans and bad Mexicans. He loves the Mexicans who jump our borders but has no use for Mexicans who protect our borders
******* Yes Compean and Ramos are actually Americans of Mexican descent*&****

Very strange dude.
Where were these pictures taken?
“Mr. Rohrabacher and Mr. Culberson are expected to speak on behalf of the agents at a press conference today, along with Republican colleagues Duncan Hunter of California, Ted Poe of Texas and Walter B. Jones of North Carolina.”
Huntington Beach, CA last Saturday, the 13th
Huntington Beach, I’d guess.
Thanks, I knew it wasn’t Main St. Santa Monica :-)
