10 Year-old Arrested for Aggravated Robbery
KWCH tv ^ | Oct 16, 2007 | Megan Strader

Posted on 10/17/2007 12:07:56 PM PDT by eccentric

According to police, the incident happened in front of Victor Ornelas School Monday afternoon. A little girl was waiting for her mom to pick her up from school and she had some candy her teacher had given her for good behavior.

A ten year old boy wanted some of that candy and when she said no, he pulled a knife out of his pocket and threatened her. The threat didn't work. The six year old girl didn't give up the candy and the 10 year old eventually walked away.

When the girls' mother picked her up she told her what happened and they saw the boy walking home. The mom called police and officers later found both the boy and the knife at his house.

He was arrested for attempted aggravated robbery and eventually released back to his parents. Officers say it's sad and unusual to see something like this happen. Cpt. Mike Utz, Garden City Police Dept., tells KWCH, "It's happened in the past as far as threats but for an attempted robbery, it's very unusual and it's very unfortunate."

A representative with the Garden City School District says they are looking into the incident and will decide how to discipline the student based on school policy.

“eventually released back to his parents”

Really? Was there a father at his house? I might be jumping the gun, but I’ll bet there wasn’t a father in his house or life . . . just what the liberals want. Maybe I’m wrong.

The little girl should have been packin’ that would teach that kid not to bring a knife to a gun fight.

Reminds me of my older brother and me. When I had candy, he threatened me with all kinds of dire results if I didn’t share my candy. Most if not all the time, I would share my candy. Sometimes my brother would just steal the candy.

Good one. I’ll have to use that. Says it all, doesn’t it?

Has there been a "pay back" since you and your brother are now grown?

I chased my older brother around the house with a garden hoe, he was laughing so hard, I almost caught him. He was 16 and I was 8.

A whole lot of years ago, there was a family in our neighborhood who resembled feral animals to some extent - picking on/threatening smaller kids. At one point, one of the kids had a pocket knife and threatened my younger brother, who proceeded to fight the kid and break one of his fingers.

Never heard what happened to them, but my brother had no further problems.

Nah! He stopped making my life miserable when he left home and joined the Air Force and made a career out of it. Too upstanding. Life in general, however, gave him some real personal ugly bumps along the way. Perhaps to make up for him being so mean to me and to others.

My sister came after me when I was 14 and she was 16 with a pointed end scrub brush, I ran out to the prorch and ducked behind a post but she hit me with a good throw.

I chased her up the hill where she took refuge in a neighbor’s house and did her best to convince them that I had started the fight (wash or dry).

When our mom and dad told her to apolgize, she looked at me with a straight face and said, “You provoked me to wrath!”

Soaping my big brother’s tooth brush was a terrific revenge when I was a kid.

Right up there with short-sheeting the bed.

Since no property was taken from the girl the correct charge would be aggravated assault (with a deadly weapon). Not robbery.

Poor excuse for a boy. Can’t even rob a girl when he’s got the weapon. He should be sentenced to 10 years of public ridicule.

If he had walked up to her and gave her a hug he would still be in the slammer as a sex offender.

I had the same problem....until I spit on the candy and then just handed it over to him. Never ate it for some reason.
