"So when Romney drops out, who do you think gets most of his support?"

Financially, he is most of his support.

Good discussion. Strategy is the name of the game and we must win this one as bad as the rats want to win it too.

Yes, the Rasmussen does give Thompson a bigger lead. It doth appear to be the outlier in the most recent polls, though.

Romney and Thompson are essentially even among men, but Thompson attracts only 10% of the vote from women.

If Thompson doesn't appeal to Republican women, he sure won't to the moderate swing voting women that the GOP nominee needs to get to 51%.

A FDT that polls terribly among women is surefire general election loser.

Spin all you want, my friend. The fact remains that Mitt is enjoying a six-point lead over both Julie-Annie and Thompson.

How many millions has Willard "Millionaire Mitt" Romney spent in Iowa to achieve first place? FRed Thompson has spent NEXT TO NOTHING in Iowa and has a solid second place and rising. Remember, too, that it's October 2007, not January 2008. A real conservative almost always beats a left-of-center flip flopper in the GOP, friend.

LOL! Yeah, we’ll see on primary day just how much of an ‘outlier’ Ras is with their nasty habit of drilling down for actual likely primary voters.

Maybe the Mitt supporters aren’t responding right away, because they need to check with their lawyers first?

When is this caucus?

Seems that any spoiler could just flood the caucus with supporters and tilt the ballance.

Huckabee should withdraw. At this point he is only in it for ego.

This is just my opinion, and I mentioned this on the board once before and then was flambayed, but many women are taking a good hard look at the May/December thing.

NOT ME.

But many women. She is very "behind the scene". That ain't gonna work. She has to become more visible and solidify the opinion of women MY age about her politics. It might not be right, but I think that's the problem and the solution.

And to the Thompsonmaniacs who are lighting their torches? See that 10%? Told ya so.

Rasmussen screens for people that actually intend to vote, unlike most other polls.

Seventy-seven percent (77%) believe that U.S. troops should remain in Iraq until the mission is complete. Nationally, 64% of Americans want the troops out of Iraq within a year.

And all 77% of those who say "U.S. troops should remain in Iraq until the mission is complete" also "want the troops out of Iraq within a year". They just realize that "mission complete" is a higher priority than "coming home".

“Wasn’t it a 10 point lead before? Now it’s six, so Romney is really kicking some major a$$ in Iowa!”

I concur. Things are awful for Mitt In Iowa. Better to drop out immediately. /sarc

Here is RCP averages in Iowa:
RCP Average 09/26 to 10/14 24.8 16.4 14.8 11.8 8.6 Romney +8.4

Huckabee has no place in the race. At this point with his national irrelevance, his continued presense is only for ego.

“Well that doesn’t explain Rudy’s popularity with this demographic.”

Giuliani is courting social liberals. They’re much more tolerant of such a thing.

LOL. Good one. By the way, I guess you haven't heard the word from Hugh Hewitt: it is now a two-man race between Mitt and Giuliani. Not. GoFredGo...

I can’t find the link to how much Mitt has spent, but I know it was in the 100s of thousands or more vs. FDT.

Money can’t buy you love.

She whipped arse when Hannity interviewed her! I think she will be a great First Lady if Mr. Thompson is elected POTUS.

She may actually be even more conservative than FRed. She was an RNC staffer before she met FRed, IIRC.
