President Bush attended a ceremony this afternoon honoring the Dalai Lama of Tibet with a Congressional Gold Medal.

“Americans cannot look to the plight of the religiously oppressed and close our eyes or turn away. And that is why I will continue to urge the leaders of China to welcome the Dalai Lama to China. They will find this good man to be a man of peace and reconciliation. (Applause.) (Transcript)

Comments like that couldn’t have set well with the ChiComs, who warned the president that such a public ceremony would “seriously damage China-US relations”.

HAHAHAHAHA! That’s a good one!

President Bush essentially told China to get over themselves this morning during his televised press conference.

“I told the Chinese President, President Hu that I was going to go to the ceremony. In other words, I brought it up. And I said I'm going because I want to honor this man … I don't think it ever damages relations when the American President talks about religious tolerance--and religious freedom is good for a nation.” (Transcript)

The president also spoke about Iran and the danger that country would pose to the world—and specifically to Israel—if it became a nuclear power.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice arrived in Israel today, where she met with leaders and officials in Bethlehem and Ramalla.

Lets say the bid would go up to $200,000.00. If the signers each would match the amount, and with Rush's, it would be $8,400,000.00. But of course they won't
