President Bush attended a ceremony this afternoon honoring the Dalai Lama of Tibet with a Congressional Gold Medal.
Americans cannot look to the plight of the religiously oppressed and close our eyes or turn away. And that is why I will continue to urge the leaders of China to welcome the Dalai Lama to China. They will find this good man to be a man of peace and reconciliation. (Applause.) (Transcript)
Comments like that couldnt have set well with the ChiComs, who warned the president that such a public ceremony would seriously damage China-US relations.
HAHAHAHAHA! Thats a good one!
President Bush essentially told China to get over themselves this morning during his televised press conference.
I told the Chinese President, President Hu that I was going to go to the ceremony. In other words, I brought it up. And I said I'm going because I want to honor this man
I don't think it ever damages relations when the American President talks about religious tolerance--and religious freedom is good for a nation. (Transcript)
The president also spoke about Iran and the danger that country would pose to the worldand specifically to Israelif it became a nuclear power.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice arrived in Israel today, where she met with leaders and officials in Bethlehem and Ramalla.

Thanks snugs. How are you? I’d like a Condi toaster with one of her big, beautiful smiles on it, if it’s not too much trouble. Thanks!

I wonder what the joke was in the last photo - I always find it intriguing when you see photos of people who look like they are having a good laugh about something and annoying as well if the reporter who obviously selected the photo does not expand upon it.

Thanks snugs...orange IS a very spiritual coloUr. The DL seems to be wearing two that would blend into orange quite nicely.
Matter of fact...we should suggest orange to him. From the pictures today, he seems like quite a happy man. We all KNOW what a happy colour orange is....right?
