Ben Stein Crosses Party Lines, Helps Franken

WASHINGTON (AP) — Liberal Al Franken is good enough and smart enough to win some of conservative Ben Stein's money — and doggone it, Stein likes him.

Stein, an actor, writer and economist, has contributed $2,000 to Franken's Minnesota Senate campaign. The two men have known each other for about 30 years.

"I'm struck by what an incredibly capable, hard-working guy he is," Stein told The Associated Press in a telephone interview Thursday. "He's a very smart liberal, he's a thoroughgoing patriot, and I would feel better with him in the Senate."

I have liberal friends. I would never give them money if they ran for office. Only a fool would do that.

“Ben Stein promotes the sanctity of human life everywhere he goes and is particularly effective when he speaks to college students at campuses across the country.”

From Wiki:

“A frequent writer, Ben Stein has authored books on several topics, including economics. He writes a regular column in the conservative magazine The American Spectator. He has also written for numerous publications including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, New York Magazine, Penthouse, Los Angeles Magazine and Barron’s Magazine, where his discussion of the Michael Milken Drexel Burnham Lambert junk bond situation, as well as the ethical dimensions of management buyouts, attracted heavy US national attention in the 1980s and 1990s.

He currently writes a regular column for the Sunday New York Times Business Section and for Yahoo! Finance online.”

I have no problem with Stein donating to a friend’s campaign for the Senate, the test is, would Al Franken donate to a “Ben Stein for Senate” campaign. I doubt it.

I have never liked Ben Stein going back to the early '90's when the worst thing that The American Spectator printed was his rambling, unfunny, wordy columns about nothing. Lately, he has really flipped out if you listen to him when he appears on some of Fox's money programs. He sounds like a typical Hillary liberal...we need to pay higher taxes, we aren't taxed enough, etc. It doesn't surprise me at all that he would think Franken is the best thing since sliced bread since I regard the two of them as two peas in a pod - unfunny, bloviating, looney liberals, who enjoy the sound of their own voices while having nothing of value to say.

Ben Stein - Gag me with a fork!

Ben just decided to act on the only lines that really make sense to everyone except WASPS: blood lines. Franken and Stein are Jewish. I hate to say it. It’s funny—one the one hand any WASP who helps a fellow WASP because he’s a WASP is a racist.
Any WASP who points out that a Jewish guy just helped another Jewish guy because he’s Jewish is ALSO a bigot.
I lose coming and going.

Yep, Stein has officially gone to the dark side. And, by the way, his economic predictions are not as perfect as his confidence would imply.
