Mrs. Bhutto accuses supporters of the former military regime

PARIS-Former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto accused the supporters of the former military regime of General Mohammad Zia-ul-Haq to have instigated the attack have referred Thursday in Karachi, in an interview broadcast Friday by online french weekly Paris Match.

"I know exactly who wanted to kill me. These are the dignitaries of the former regime of General Zia who are now behind extremism and fanaticism, "said Mrs. Bhutto in the interview given in the night from Thursday to Friday Karachi and published on the website of the journal (www.parismatch.com).

"We need to purge these elements still present in our secret services Many of them are due to retirements and then were rehired. They have a lot of power. For them, I represent a danger: if I back democracy in the country, they will lose their influence, "Did estimated.

The father of Benazir Bhutto, the former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, was overthrown in 1977 by General Zia Haq, and was executed under his regime in 1979.

"I still live with the pain of the murder of my father and my brothers," said Ms. Bhutto.

The attack, which was laid a few hours after his return to Pakistan after eight years in exile, has left at least 133 dead, according to his movement, the Pakistan People's Party (PPP).

"They tried to kill me, I was lucky. Minutes before the explosion, I am down inside the truck to reread the political discourse that I had to decide later. I was protected by walls armored truck and that's what saved me. I heard the first explosion, and then I saw the second, which I expected. My husband has often said that those who commit such attacks there always resume at two, or even three times. The first bomb used to pull people, the second, completing them or kill them, "Ms. Bhutto told the reporter from Paris Match.

It also pins the current government. "I know that whenever announcing my intention to hold a major political meeting, the government will now answer me:" There are suicide bombers to your meetings, the risk is too great. " But what has happened is their fault, because it has not been able to prevent this tragedy. "

The former Prime Minister said she was prevented half an hour before the explosions, with a call for the intelligence services of the government.

"They warned us that the police had just received a bomb threat and she took very seriously. So they sent out a team to neutralize a suicide bomber armed with a belt packed with explosives found, according to them, next to the truck in which I was. It is these young people who have died during the explosions. They gave their lives to defend ourselves, "Foucault said.

"Those who detonated the bombs wanted to kill the enthusiasm of the crowds that greeted me yesterday afternoon. But, fortunately for Pakistan, they have not been able to decapitate the movement for democracy, "yet says Bhutto, noting that "there exists in Pakistan madrassas (Koranic schools) who practice brainwashing, and lead some" to commit this kind of action.

Here is my impression - After Bhutto received a call from the government about a suicide bomber, the motorcade stopped for a half hour while her security team searched for the bomber. They found him when he detonated the bomb next to her truck.

I was listening to an former professor of mine on talk radio this morning..he said words to the effect of..”If anyone deserves a Nobel Peace Prize” I couldn’t agree more. Here is a woman who goes back to try and help her country, even in the face of such extreme danger. A tragedy for the people of Pakistan. A corrupted military in that country is chilling. They have nukes.

Unfortunately for those who planned this bombing, it will increase support for Bhutto and make her even more popular amongst the Pakistani people.

Stupid move on the part of the terrorists.

If its a suicide bomber, then its AlQueda.

Not necessarily, a female Tamil Tiger (LTTE) suicide bomber assassinated Rajiv Gandhi.

But al Qaeda is the way to bet..

How smart do you have to be to base your entire strategy on people blowing themselves up?
