Petition for Recall of NRA Director "5-rounds" Jackson
TheHighRoad.org ^ | October 15, 2007 | Jeff Reed

You may have heard about the comments of NRA Director Joaquin Jackson during a media interview.

Interviewer: Of course a lot of law enforcement are concerned about things like assault weapons which they feel like don't really contribute to the keeping of the peace.
JJ: Well, I'm a person that believes in a weapon should never…I personally believe a weapon should never have over a – far as civilian – 5 round capacity. If a hunter, if you're a hunter if you're gonna go hunting with a weapon, you shouldn't need over but one round…

Interviewer asks about "assault weapons" not hunting, he doesn't even bring hunting up. The key words in the question are "law enforcement", "concerned", "assault weapons", "keeping of the peace". Where is "hunting" in here?

JJ responds with "(I) believes...a weapon should never...I personally believe a weapon...never...over... (if a) civilian - 5 round capacity."

THEN he brings up hunting and if you're a good hunter not needing more than one shot.

The interview goes on:

Interviewer: So have you brought to the attention of your fellow board members at the NRA that maybe assault weapons ought to be restricted?
JJ: Well we've talked, we've discussed it you know, but uh this thing about assault weapons has been a kind of a touchy deal, but personally, I think these assault weapons basically need to be in the hands of the military and they need to be in the hands of the police, but uh, as far as assault weapons to a civilian, if you… if you… it's alright if you got that magazine capacity down to five…
Interviewer: Five rounds. Limited to that.
JJ: …five, five… Good to go. Five rounds or some…

If you are an NRA life member or an annual member in good standing for the past five years, you can download and sign the petition to recall Jackson from his seat on the NRA Board of Directors:

I should join, but I haven’t bought a gun yet and I would feel real dumb joining the NRA without one.

Great example of why I feel the NRA left me years ago.

If you want your right for future use, join now. Also join GOA and/or Jews for the Preservation Of Firearms. You don’t have to be Jewish to join the latter either.

How’d this jack ass get appointed director in the first place? He sounds exactly like he’s from the Brady crowd.

But, if you join you will be sent a glossy magazine where you can see where your fees are being spent. They seem to enjoy big parties and having their pictures in the magazine. Morons!

For Pete's sake don't feel that way. There are thousands of NRA members who don't own their own guns. Think New York City.

The 2nd Amnd. ain’t about hunting!! I’m glad I never joined the NRA. Although I should join just so I could call them bastards & bitch about this guy & the rest of the non hackers the NRA seems to attract.

Don’t feel dumb, a lot of folks who don’t own firearms belong to the NRA. Their organization can help you decide what gun is right for you and your dues helps with the fight against the gun grabbers. They also send out flyers for local NRA supported candidates at election time to help with your selections.

Irresponsible and unacceptable comment; he should not be on the board. In fact, he should not even be a member of the NRA, and should be immediately and unceremoniously booted.

I dropped my NRA membership several years ago - to many compromises - and multiple WEEKLY solicitations via mail and phone for donations...

I rather support an organization that is no-compromise, of which there are a few.

I got fed up with the twice a week begathon for money in my mail box first, then grew disenchanted with how the NRA was going about the political stuff.

This is what I figured in the early 1990’s was going to come from the NRA, and now its confirmed I was correct.

They’ll never get another dime from me.

Tried to access the petition, but got an error message; is there something wrong with the link, or is it just me?

YOu can join for what about $25 a year? Then they spend $100 sending you requests for more money.

The NRA is aiding the slippery slope. Perhaps its idiots like this one helping that movement though.
