I should join, but I haven’t bought a gun yet and I would feel real dumb joining the NRA without one.

If you want your right for future use, join now. Also join GOA and/or Jews for the Preservation Of Firearms. You don’t have to be Jewish to join the latter either.

For Pete's sake don't feel that way. There are thousands of NRA members who don't own their own guns. Think New York City.

Don’t feel dumb, a lot of folks who don’t own firearms belong to the NRA. Their organization can help you decide what gun is right for you and your dues helps with the fight against the gun grabbers. They also send out flyers for local NRA supported candidates at election time to help with your selections.

All four of my grandsons are NRA life members, none of them are old enough to own a firearm yet. Firearm ownership isn't a requirement for membership.

You don't need to exercise a right to help protect one. Please join asap.

That’s a ridiculous argument. First your NRA membership helps fund 2nd Amendment advocacy and understanding, training and proper use. Secondly, membership gives you access to said training and specials not available to non members...Gun ownership is not a requirement...but hey what are you waiting for get a set of gonads, buy a gun get some training join up and have some fun!

Rubbish.

I joined the NRA wayyyyy before I owned guns. I was even raising money for the NRA Foundation before I owned guns.

It’s the principles that matter. Don’t sweat not packing...for the time being, that is. When the time is right, you will become a gun owner. Then you will be both a gun owner and an NRA member.

Don't. You can buy the stickers and put them on your windows as a burglar deterrent.

I read an article once where guys would sit in grocery store parking lots and wait for minivans with the Million Mom March bumper stickers on them. They would follow them home and rob them knowing they wouldn't have a gun to protect themselves.

I now have NRA stickers on my dog as well.

It wouldn’t be a dumb thing. They have really good magazines (the reading kind grin) for all members. (automatically subscribed, you just have to pick which one you want) They keep you informed about things you never hear about in the media. That alone is really worth the price...so if you ever get the notion to join, do so. I don’t support some of their ideas, but in general...they are a force to be reckoned with.

To clarify, when I wrote...”I don’t support some of their ideas”.... one can rarely find an organization that they agree with 100%. IMHO, I think they should be *more* proactive (Like GOA and the Jewish organization) and less willing to compromise. (of course, they may have changed over the past couple of years, ...I need to renew)

Why? I joined years ago and still don’t have a gun.
