You may have heard about the comments of NRA Director Joaquin Jackson during a media interview.
Interviewer asks about "assault weapons" not hunting, he doesn't even bring hunting up. The key words in the question are "law enforcement", "concerned", "assault weapons", "keeping of the peace". Where is "hunting" in here?
JJ responds with "(I) believes...a weapon should never...I personally believe a weapon...never...over... (if a) civilian - 5 round capacity."
THEN he brings up hunting and if you're a good hunter not needing more than one shot.
The interview goes on:
If you are an NRA life member or an annual member in good standing for the past five years, you can download and sign the petition to recall Jackson from his seat on the NRA Board of Directors:
All four of my grandsons are NRA life members, none of them are old enough to own a firearm yet. Firearm ownership isn't a requirement for membership.
Their solicitations work to increase their income, otherwise they wouldn’t do them. Bulk presorted standard mail is very cheap. It is fairly simple to get off that solicitation list, though, you just call them and ask or send a letter.
The NRA Board is elected by its members. You don’t seriously think that Josh Sugarman or Sarah Brady aren’t NRA life members, do you?
We need your pro-gun vote for pro-gun NRA directors.
NRA - GOA - JPFO... the trifecta!
NRA life membership - what a perfect gift!
Gun Owners of America sometimes tend to “eat their own”, but they’re usually at the forefront of the issues.
NRA’s lethargic response to the LEO gun grabbings in New Orleans after Katrina finished me with the organization. I also did not like all the junk mail and constant begging for money, even though I did like the insurance on my firearms.
Thats how I see it.
The insurance was a nice benefit, but my homeowners insurance has me covered there.
Damn shame, for decades the NRA was THE gun rights organization. Now?
Now, they’ve become to gun rights what Rudy Guiliani is to Conservativism.
Mallable.
You don't need to exercise a right to help protect one. Please join asap.

I haven’t given up. We need the NRA.
I took them to task over the spam mailings and the come-ons to buy trinkets - they quit sending me junk.
I yelled at them about Katrina because they were so slow to the offense - hopefully they’ll do better. They are responsive, if a but slow.
I will sign the petition and send it in. I was outraged when Charlton equivocated on assault weapons and let them know. I want them to know that this pinhead has no business in a leadership position at the NRA.
They will never know unless we hold them accountable!
NRA - GOA - JPFO - SAF... the superfecta!
These Fudds will be the death of us all.
Further proof that any organization that is not explicitly conservative will become liberal over time. Washington-based organizations are particularly susceptible to the lure of “going native”. Life is so much nicer for lobbyists who go along to get along - you get invited to parties with hot-looking wealthy women and are introduced to much more important people than those who stick to their guns, so to speak.
NRA membership dues mainly cover the magazine subscription. And they are prohibited from using dues for political purposes. Therefore, they have to ask for donations to fund operations and political lobbying efforts.
If you don’t care to receive the mailings, you can call them to opt out or just toss them in the trash. I hate to see people abandon the NRA because they are peeved about the mailings. Our political enemies spend millions to lobby for gun bans, plus they get millions more in free advertising from the media. If gun owners won’t pony up to defend their freedoms, who will?
Yes, the NRA is not perfect and sometimes is not as agressive as I’d like. But they are recognized by all sides as the most powerful, most effective, amd most trusted and truthful of any civil rights/political lobbying group. The other pro-gun groups combined probably have about 1/100 the clout of the NRA.
Don’t forget that in addition to the political side of things, the NRA provides many types of training for citizens, law enforcement and the military. They sponsor and sanction competitions, matches and clinics of all types. They provide guidance for new range development. They have outreach programs to introduce women and young people to the shooting sports. They also have a legal arm that can aid a citizen caught up in a gun law violation.
With Democrat control of Congress and a possible anti-gun Democrat president come 2009, NRA needs all the members it can get.
PS
The BOD is elected. Sometime a dufus like Jackson gets in there. It’s not the end of the world. There is a process to remove someone like that. It works.
Well said!!!
Do any of you KNOW who Juaquin Jackson is?
He’s probably one of the greatest Texas Rangers to have served in the past half century.
Read his book and get a little insight.
The book’s called “One Ranger”.
Trust me, it’s worth the read.
RLTW
Does the rifle he has in the video hold more than five rounds?
