Petition for Recall of NRA Director "5-rounds" Jackson

You may have heard about the comments of NRA Director Joaquin Jackson during a media interview.

Interviewer: Of course a lot of law enforcement are concerned about things like assault weapons which they feel like don't really contribute to the keeping of the peace.
JJ: Well, I'm a person that believes in a weapon should never…I personally believe a weapon should never have over a – far as civilian – 5 round capacity. If a hunter, if you're a hunter if you're gonna go hunting with a weapon, you shouldn't need over but one round…

Interviewer asks about "assault weapons" not hunting, he doesn't even bring hunting up. The key words in the question are "law enforcement", "concerned", "assault weapons", "keeping of the peace". Where is "hunting" in here?

JJ responds with "(I) believes...a weapon should never...I personally believe a weapon...never...over... (if a) civilian - 5 round capacity."

THEN he brings up hunting and if you're a good hunter not needing more than one shot.

The interview goes on:

Interviewer: So have you brought to the attention of your fellow board members at the NRA that maybe assault weapons ought to be restricted?
JJ: Well we've talked, we've discussed it you know, but uh this thing about assault weapons has been a kind of a touchy deal, but personally, I think these assault weapons basically need to be in the hands of the military and they need to be in the hands of the police, but uh, as far as assault weapons to a civilian, if you… if you… it's alright if you got that magazine capacity down to five…
Interviewer: Five rounds. Limited to that.
JJ: …five, five… Good to go. Five rounds or some…

If you are an NRA life member or an annual member in good standing for the past five years, you can download and sign the petition to recall Jackson from his seat on the NRA Board of Directors:

“I guess gun control is Constitutional now since the NRA is supporting it.”

Oh cmon, we all know the NRA is fighting for us. From their directors who publicly support gun control to those that use firearms as props in concerts as they threaten public officials.

An great LEO maybe, but not a true patriot-one who would die for the righs of his fellow citizen ratehr than tell us, in his infinte LEO wisdom, that i only need 5 rounds or less-waht an elitist. I need as many as the guys attacking me, plus one....

The NRA, like all human endeavors, is not w/o flaw, but no other pro-gun org in the history of the world has/had or will have more clout in our government.

If you don’t like the position the NRA takes, join, write them on your position, vote and make it happen. The NICS Improvement Bill will hopefully die in the senate-and the NRA will learn a lesson....

My liberty is not worth a moment of assumed security.

They sent me an unsolicited movie about guns and then demanded I pay them money.

I decided them to let my membership drop.

I only joined the NRA because the local gun club requires NRA membership for club membership.

I won't give them another dime.

“While you’re whining you have to miss a couple of minutes of Dancing with the Stars and get out of the Lazy-Boy to throw a couple of pieces of paper away, others are getting out their checkbooks.”

Yep Shooter you really know how to smooth talk people into joining the glorious salvation of the NRA. Just throw insults and that’ll work!!!

The NRA has good members and some good leadership. 5 round jackson and lets wave a firearms around on stage threating a presidential candidate are not among the most shining examples. The NRA spends an enormous amount of money foolishly with their beg-o-grams. Money that could be used for a good cause.

IMO they are contributing to the slippery slope of gun control. They are serving their own best interests by keeping the debate going and keeping their jobs secure. The NRA needs real leadership and a real mission, perhaps then I’ll rejoin. Until then its a waste of money.

Well said. Although I have complaints about NRA, I'm a member and have been for many years. I had let my membership lapse at one time, then re-upped the day after the Columbine killings.

Sorry shooter, I confused windows while researching and thought you had responded to me. Was not my intent to dredge up an old discussion.
