UPDATE: The city of Malibu is advising residents in Puerco Canyon to begin evacuating due to a wildfire driven by powerful winds. This area is north of Pacific Coast Highway and about 1 mile west of Pepperdine University. Residents along the beach on Malibu Road may soon be evacuated. Pacific Coast Highway is closed between Kanan-Dume Road and Topanga Canyon. Residents are advised to head to the west. Evacuation centers are being set up in the Zuma Beach area.

A wildfire driven by powerful winds in the Malibu Hills this morning threatened a university, destroyed at least one home and forced the evacuation of hundreds more, authorities said.

Okay, those are a couple of instances, but... we don’t know how extensively those regulations were applied, do we?

In other words, how much of the equation ... all factors considered ... would that be?

It needs to be evaluated scientifically. Now, I can understand the frustration of homeowners when they come up against bureaucracy, no mistaking. So... I am waiting to hear from FReepers in the fire areas who have personally experienced it.

And, I think using a Kangaroo Rat as an excuse is just... ridiculous!

Listening to Channel 10, SD.

Ramona opened up though there is no water. Residents angry that only lack of domestic water was keeping them out — finally county officials gave in and let them back in to check on homes and spend the night.

Fallbrook opened up too a short while ago. Residents earlier had been prevented by the NG, though FD had given the o.k. Lead to angry words being exchanged.

Remaining 700 persons at QualComm have been given to noon tomorrow to leave to Del Mar or other shelters. Will be given transportation if they have none.

Three-quarter million dollars donated to the Red Cross so far. $500,000 by Anheuser Busch, $150,000 by Wells Fargo, $100,000 cash by Ford plus 5 or 6 new SUV’s for the FD. (missed other donations — Red Cross phone bank at Channel 10 studio).

[someone asked earlier — lived in northern California in mid-sixties and in San Diego for training before Vietnam; fun times as a young bachelor officer!]

Channel 10 gone back to regular programing and I’m going to do other things. Nite from SE NM.

Only 700 left at Qualcomm.... I guess GMA has packed up and gone home by now, too.

Haha.

I believe in survival of the fittest, if plant, animal or mineral doesn’t get out of the way of a D-9 caterpillar. its doomed for extinction. Humans come first, top of the food chain and all that.

Another looting arrest
Posted @ 6:34 PM
This afternoon the Border Patrol stopped a man walking in the Jamul Area carrying a backpack.

He was found to be in possession of a woman’s purse filled with costume jewelry.

He was identified through fingerprints as Pedro Cervantes, a Mexican citizen. It was determined that he had a felony warrant out of Riverside County.

Cervantes was arrested for the felony narcotics warrant and looting. He is currently being held in the San Diego County Central Jail.

I’m going to refrain from what I’m thinking about yet another ILLEGAL MEXICAN stealing from Americans.

We just got back from the one and only, first time, looky loo drive up the hill. We didn’t see anything other than more trucks going into the area...and smelled smoke....(duh).

Not wanting to go further, and get in the way....we came home.

That is interesting, now who or rather what is the motivation of diverting the blame elsewhere?

Interesting indeed, I will keep my comments to myself for awhile and will look at other “chatter”.

Who knows....I dont think mecha would ever considering something like that...the people who sneak into Southern California have it made as it is....why risk losing all the freebies they have acquired.

Sure, amnesty is delayed for a few years..but why ruin such a good thing (for them)
