Not mentioned in the article is the reason for the absences: continued rumors of race-related attacks between black students and white students.

As everyone at FR should know by know, Ithaca prides itself on being "the most enlightened city in America." Yet, here we are with with a school in lockdown and students afraid to attend.

Another liberal "success story" I guess.

Ithaca is the City of Evil.

You know, this wouldn't bother me too much if you weren't required at the point of a gun to buy their product with your taxes, and then if you don't like it, you have to go and buy the competitor's product too.

They should convert to a pure fee-for-service model and then they can engage in any socialist wet dream they want to and people who like that sort of thing can go there and the rest of us can vote with our feet and dollars.

Ithaca City School District Warden Judith Pastel indicated there would be a lock down of all inmates, so they could be assured of a properly sized opaycheck, since the most important part of the day is rollcall, to ensure all inmates are in their cells.

Even in Ithaca nobody is "locked inside" a classroom. The doors are locked to keep people out but anyone can leave in case of fire or whatever. Classroom locks are governed by safety regulations and common sense ; Google "classroom thumbturn" or "classroom deadbolt" and you'll find dozens of locks for sale designed for just this purpose.

Now that that's out of the way ... does anybody have any confidence whatsoever in the word of a mother who names her daughter Epiphany? And of course there's no mention of a father ...

From Wikipedia:

"The Hamlet chicken processing plant fire was an industrial disaster that took place at the Imperial Foods chicken processing plant in Hamlet, North Carolina, USA on September 3, 1991, after a failure in a faulty modification to a hydraulic line.Twenty-five people were killed and 54 injured in the fire as they were trapped behind locked fire doors."

Locking classroom doors at the start of a class will make students more punctual and help identify which students are skipping class outright, Pastel said.

I have a feeling they might already have a clue as to the perpetually absent. Lock down only helps the frightened ones feel safe in roughly 40 min blocks of time. And so they further identify these students? It seems they already can't 'control' them. Do they give them detentions? Will the police need to take precautions for their own safety?

Not mentioned in the article is the reason for the absences: continued rumors of race-related attacks between black students and white students.

Well, mentioning that wouldn't be very PC, would it? The attacks between students - it's a mystery... After all, they are so enlightened in Ithaca, a beacon to us all. They truly are a shining example of socialisms' workings ~ /end sarcasm.
