Rangel: Giuliani “Embarrasses Us"
CNN ^ | October 22, 2007 | CNN

Posted on 10/22/2007 7:54:32 PM PDT by Doofer

WASHINGTON (CNN) — New York Rep. Charlie Rangel, a prominent supporter of Hillary Clinton, sharply criticized Republican presidential frontrunner Rudy Giuliani's personal life Monday, highlighting the fact that the former New York City mayor and his wife have each been married three times. "Two people, six spouses. It's a little complicated if you're not religious, especially if you're running against a Mormon," Rangel told CNN's Wolf Blitzer in a reference to Giuliani's chief rival, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. For the record, Romney has only been married once. "I think America has to look at all these things, and there are enough moles on this man that embarrasses those of us who have sought public life," the 19-term New York congressman added. "When we get involved in public life, it means we're in a goldfish bowl. It would seem to me, with all the breaks the mayor had, being involved with his personal problems, he would thank God he's gotten as far as he did go without making the politicians get involved in his personal life." Rangel brushed aside the notion that criticizing Giuliani's personal life exposes Hillary Clinton to similar criticism. The former first lady’s own marital troubles have been well documented. "You can say it over and over and over again. This woman got married [and] stayed married [to] the same husband. When they had problems, she stuck with him. You tell me what in her personal life is something she should be ashamed of, and I want to talk about it." Contacted by CNN, Giuliani spokeswoman Maria Comella said, "This kind of ugly, personal attack isn't even worth a response."

Rangel and Rudy are two of a kind.

Here is something else Rangel said about Rudy and Mitt.

But Mr. Rangel said he still looked forward to Mr. Giuliani’s Republican opponents making an issue of his infidelity—“Romney could say, ‘I’m entitled to three wives,’” Mr. Rangel said—and said that when it came to abortion, “The church will take care of his ass all alone.”

LOL.

I am by no means a Rudy fan, but this is pretty lame — even for the Dems. I mean, come-on, embarrassing?

What lame chutzpah.

The party of Oval Office cigar parties, Freezer Jefferson’s cold cash, Barney Frank’s private little gay whorehouse, on and on ad-nausea is embarrassed by Rudy?

Liberals are such hypocrites — I thought what people did in the private lives was supposed to be none of anyone’s business, at least that was what we were told ad nauseum during the Clinton impeachment.

I think that people are focusing on the lesser offense here in discussing the Guiliani angle.

The above is an incredibly bigoted comment by Rangel that reinforces one of the big negative stereotypes wrt Mormons.

I'm not Mormon, but Rangel needs to be called out on this and forced to apologize.

LOL well leave it to Hillry to have Charlie fight for her honor... Wonder what his price is to do what her gad about hubby isn’t around to do.

‘You know’ after Hillry gets finished with Rudy he might change his mind about ‘illegals’ invading his home state.

Well Maria if your man wins the nomination get used to it because you haven't seen nothing yet...

You're right, and we certainly can expect to see those pictures of Rudy in drag that are all the rage here show up in 527 campaign ads, even though gay friendly Hillary will "denounce" them. I like the way they use Rangel as the messenger for this bit of Demo-hypocrisy; assuming, no doubt, that his "blackness" will protect him from the fall-out that might otherwise overwhelm a white "hit man".

“Guiliani, at least, has always been on the right side of the law.”

As far as we know so far. What about Bernie Kerik? He was likely taking money on the side and who knows if it passed to his best friend Rootie. Moreover, using taxpayer funds to build a love nest from where he could cheat on his wife isn’t exactly on the right side of the law.

With regard to Ghouliani, Rangel speaks the truth. He is an embarrassment.

Conservatives problem with rootie is not him being a Republican... we are a big Party... our problem is that he is running for the Republican Presidential Nomination. rootie may be a liberal in every sense of the word... but he is “our” liberal... so screw rangel! When his arse needs kickin’... we can handle it ourselves! :-)

I guess Rangel is more comfortable around “African-Americans” who give birth to 70+% of THEIR children out of wedlock....or commit crimes at a rate multiple times their numbers in the population?

Or perhaps Bill Clinton the impeached sperminator?
Or perhaps Jesse Jackson the adulterous extortionist racist?
Or perhaps Al Sharpton the ridiculous rabble rousing racist?
Or the “88” racist professors at Duke who organized a black lynch mob?
Or perhaps ignorant racists of Durham, who demanded Nyfong prosecute 3 white boys on the say so of a lying whore?

I could go on, but you get the drift...
Where is Rangel’s outrage over these facts?

Rangel has become the perfect but embarrassing stereotype of a political buffoon.
He brings discredit to anyone pushing him forward as their representative...

Maybe Rudy could drive a gal off a bridge and let her drown, then Charlie would find nothing to complain about.

Did the Mormon-Question ever come up when Harry Reid ran for office, let alone when he was selected to lead Congress?

Clinton’s team is promoting the “politics of personal destruction”.

I think Hillaryhips is siccing on her attack dogs on Rudy because she is afraid of him. He would beat her in the general. Even Hannity said today that Rudy could even take New York away from her in 2008. It would be 1984 all over again.

Just curious, what do folks think happen with the votes in NY if the race is Hillary agains Giuliani?

Lots of electoral votes, a deal killer for the Dems. If NYC could twice vote him Mayor, should he not beat Hillary?

I’d have to think that anyone in NYC or NY, remembers that Rudi is the one that got them out of the mess NY/NYC was?

One thing I know for certain. I’m voting for whoever has the (R) next to their name in the general election.
