The GOP candidates spent Sunday night in Florida at the latest Republican debate, where the polls suggest it's a two-man race between Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson. Giuliani's numbers have been softly falling since this spring, while Thompson has been enjoying almost uninterrupted gains since entering the race.
Rudy Giuliani 26.2%
Fred Thompson 21.3%
Mitt Romney 12.7%
John McCain 8%

Good because we are really gonna need Fla’s electoral votes
I think we’ll see Fred start to take charge within the month. If a liberal like Rudy ends up being the GOP standard bearer, then I need to find a new party.
Then you can change your name to Hikemeister.
I thought Romney was “surging” in FL.
He was until Fred got in :)
Rudy’s numbers have to be hollow , as I see more Romney stickers than Rudy stickers. I see more Fred stickers than both of those combined .
I go by what I call the “ The Bumper Sticker Barometer “ , as it seems pretty accurate .
Go Fred....yeeehawww......you are soon going to pwn Florida, despite the drama queens!
There are FredHead groups poping up all over Florida! All Florida Freepers should check out the Fred campaign site for local events and FredHead get together meetings. We went to one in Clearwater this past Monday and met some great people!
Fred ‘08 - Friends of Fred Thompson
Not bad for a lazy candidate.
Rudy simply can't win the nomination. If he does we will forfeit the Presidential race the same as we forfeited the Congress last year. See I never thought the Democrats won. I know too many stalwart conservatives who simply didn't go to the polls last year thanks to the drivel foisted on Republicans by the earmark kings.
If Fred understands this and can present that with optimism, he can bring these people home. Rudy can't...no hope. With the right guy at the top, I think we can retain the White House and make quite decent progress in the Congress.
Of course, it would be nice if some of the nit wit Republicans we still have in Congress would stuff a sock in it (my personal choice for Republican nit wit of the summer is Norm Coleman of Minnesota). I s'pect others have personal favorites of other locales.
No kidding.
50% or more of American voters are ALSO lazy, so I guess they'll identify easily with FRed based on your factoid, which should easily put him in the White House in an election against the Hildabeast.
Go FRed!
“If a liberal like Rudy ends up being the GOP standard bearer, then I need to find a new party”
At least in that race, ditto.
Yup he’s surging. Its just he was facing the wrong way when the charge was sounded.
If you go to pollster.com and look at the chart, actually Thompson, McCain, and Romney are all gaining while Giuliani is losing. Some of that comes from Giuliani losing support, some comes from the few drop-outs so far, but I'm starting to think that the undecideds are starting to break.
That said, Thompson started closer to the top, and his upward trend is as strong or stronger than McCain's or Romney's.
That means that whoever the candidate is has a 50% base that needs to be motivated to get out and vote for him rather than staying home.
Which leaves a 1% that must be appealed to and motivated to vote for him in order for him to win.
Ergo....
When the American people can rise in indignation and defeat a Shamnesty Bill and promise its Senate supporters the same fate, twice, then the candidate who appeals to those actively engaged voters is way ahead of the game.
And guess who just threw red meat in front of those active voters?
Go Fred. Or “go Mitt”. Anybody but the leftwing mayor.
