Former Spy's Memoir Contains a Paradox ("Scattershot Paranoia Runs Through" Plame Bio)
New York Sun ^ | 10/25/2007 | Nicholas Wapshott

If Valerie Plame's memoir was intended to lay to rest the conflicting accounts of how she came to be outed as a covert CIA agent, it fails. Instead, she paints herself as a naïve, whinging victim of circumstance married to an angry, obstreperous egotist who volunteered to involve himself in a vicious battle between the White House and the CIA over how President Bush came to make untrue statements in a State of the Union speech.

Fair Game: My Life as a Spy, My Betrayal by the White House (Simon and Schuster, $26) shows how mistaken her husband's judgment was. Not long after Ambassador Joseph Wilson wrote a piece for the New York Times condemning the president for suggesting, on advice, that Saddam Hussein was trying to buy yellowcake uranium in order to make nuclear weapons, his business collapsed, and his marriage was in tatters.

"The frequent fights, seething accusations, hurtful words, and entrenched bitterness pushed us both to the brink," Ms. Plame writes. And she is talking about her fights with her husband, not Karl Rove.

President Bush did NOT make any “untrue” statements in his SOU address.

He said “The British Government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa .”

British Intelligence.

The British reviewed their intelligence after the SOU frappe and stand by their reporting.

Remember all- Joe Wilson’s Africanist State Department sweet mint tea theory (shared by a minority of Bush hating CIA analysts) has been that since the French control the African uranium mines, the French will prevent any illegal diversions.

Disregarding who sold Saddam his original stash of Niger yellowcake retained at Tuwaitha (why?), and helped Saddam build Osirak and came dam close to putting Iraqi nuc weapons production online in 1980....

Some of my favorite George Will quotes.

We know next to nothing about virtually everything.
It is not necessary to know the origin of the universe;
it is necessary to want to know.
Civilization depends not on any particular knowledge,
but on the disposition to crave knowledge.
George F. Will (1941 - )

...in the lexicon of the political class, the word “sacrifice” means that the citizens are supposed to mail even more of their income to Washington so that the political class will not have to sacrifice the pleasure of spending it.
George Will - Newsweek, 2/22/93

We are given children to test us and make us more spiritual.
George F. Will (1941 - )

The Berlin Wall is the defining achievement of socialism.
George Will

Football is a mistake.
It combines the two worst elements of American life.
Violence and committee meetings.
George Will

If you want to understand your government, don’t begin by reading the Constitution.
It conveys precious little of the flavor of today’s statecraft.
Instead, read selected portions of the Washington telephone directory containing listings for all the organizations with titles beginning with the word `National’.
George Will

Lord knows I disagree with Bush on many things but the left and the MSM had half of the country hating him before he ever took office. He was more or less forced to operate from the White House the way he has. The lefts hate for him has driven me to feel the same toward them. As far as logic I find very few liberals using real logic.

One thing that is a solid fact about the Clintons is that they are devout Machiavellians. If you read “The Prince” you will understand that they follow Machiavelli’s advice to the letter.

That being said, Machiavelli’s writings consistently stress the importance of a leader’s not being hated by his people, or it will undermine even the best and most altruistic leader. The Clinton Minions started their campaign of hatred the minute that Bush entered the campaign. They fought every appointment, then criticized the successful appointments. They used the floors of Congress to actually lie about his efforts and accomplishments.

Plame and Wilson are important liars in the course of hatred, and they lie to such a degree that its easily recognized. But the party-spirit of the Democrats does not allow the public to see the lies....instead they embrace the hatred and feelings of victimhood that the Democrat party sows upon the non-thinkers.

The Democrats are in a circle of logic: from conceit to hatred to ignorance, to conceit to hatred to ignorance...one reinforces the other. At some point the truth will crush their circle.

Yes, dehumanizing your political opponents to the point of fear and hate leads to radicalism.

Which leads to violence.

Can the Clintons control the huge portion of the public that they and their “WAR ROOM” (ie the MSM,academia,Hollywood) have radicalized?

The CodePink accosting of the Sec of State yesterday says no.

I still won't buy this pile-of-feces but the "book" may be very useful in finally showing anyone who will pay attention just how vicious and dishonest Joe Wilson really is. I knew he is a mendacious jackal, but reading his wife's account of how badly he treated her in the midst of the "scandal" that HE created shows once again what a demented egomaniac he really is.

And on page 186, Ms. Plame explains she wrote an e-mail that read: "My husband has good relations with both the [Niger] PM and the former Minister of Mines (not to mention lots of French contacts), both of whom could possibly shed light on this sort of activity." When this e-mail came to light, in a Senate Intelligence Committee report, the high-strung Mr. Wilson once again launched into a temper tantrum. "Midway through the silent meal, Joe abruptly got up, dumped his unfinished plate in the sink, and left the room in a wordless rage. ... Despite my best efforts to explain the innocence of the e-mail, Joe was too upset to listen. He just glared at me."

Remarkable words from Mrs. Joe Wilson about the soap opera of living with a fellow traitor who is also a demented egomaniac. I never expected she would share such dirty laundry when to a large extent they are in the same boat (even if their marriage may be falling apart). Anything that undermines their credibility with the media and public is a good thing, but of course the MSM tries desperately to ignore everything that does not fit the left’s agenda.

What I find amazing is that anyone so stupid could be working for the CIA in any capacity! If she’s typical of current CIA tradecraft no wonder the country was caught flat-footed on 9-11.

These two vicious charlatans wreaked havoc on our nation's efforts to defend against Islamo-fascist terrorists. At one of the most difficult moment's in our nation's history, two treasonous scumbags used the MSM and the Democrats to launch an assault on our nation's government in time of war. Now Valerie "Harriet the Spy" Plame has decided to rip her worthless husband in print, for money. Two scumbags who deserve each other......

"Fair Game: My Life as a Spy, My Betrayal by the White House" ... shows how mistaken her husband's judgment was. She’s taking a cruise down de Nile with Mary Mapes. What a dope! With Nimrods like this in the CIA no wonder our enemies are running laps around our [civilian] intelligence agencies.

Hubby and I were discussing this last night. It’s as if they don’t even remember why they started hating Bush, but they hate him nonetheless and therefore blame everything on him and he’s damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t. One example of this was calling his trip to CA a “photo-op” even though if he hadn’t of gone, they would have complained that he should have. It truly is Bush Derangement Syndrome.

The left is crazy, hate filled and actually more dangerous than terrorist at this time. If we allow this to continue without fighting them with our words we will have to physically do it to survive. I honestly am at the point where I would rather fight them than the terrorist and if we handle them the terrorist will not be able to handle their words to sew discord and hate.

Saw her last night. She lied through her teeth...but then good liars make good spies. She admitted that...what's his name...is the one who leaked "her status in relation to Joe" to Woodward and Novak.

Then she said Cheney and Rove was a whole separate event...in other words...they didn't know who leaked it...They were out to take Joe down...but that's not true...They were trying to find out why the heck they sent HIM...a loyal Dem...and HOW and WHO got him the job.

Valerie effectively set Joe up...that's what spies do...then they twist it.
