I don't think it was a "room full of fascists". That's the sad part. A lot of students came to hear Horowitz speak his piece so they could judge for themselves. But the chicken-liver administration allowed the fascists to take control of the room.

And, I hate to say it, I think Horowitz missed an opportunity to highlight the fascism that was on display. Instead of attempting to continue his speech, he should have changed format and made repeated demands for the right to speak, interspersed with repeated statements to the effect that leftists do not believe in free speech, interspersed with repeated questions directly to the fascists: "don't I have a right to speak?"

Something like that. By changing the format, by being flexible, he could have changed it from a shut-down speech to a verbal triumph.
