Miracle: (7 year old) Taylor's 'inoperable' tumor successfully removed
The Daily Herald (Chicago) ^ | 10/25/07 | Stacy St. Clair and Brian Hill

Less than an hour after her daughter's brain surgery, Laurie Radtke went into the recovery room and pressed her forehead against her little girl's brow.

"Thank you for fighting so hard, Pumpkin," Laurie said.

Her daughter, 7-year-old Taylor, gave a groggy nod in response and faded back to sleep. The small gesture, which lasted only seconds, reduced her mother to tears.

Laurie Radtke wept out of relief following an emotional two-week odyssey that led her Johnsburg family to an Arizona doctor willing to operate on Taylor's brain tumor.

And she wept out of sheer joy following a successful operation that defied expectations and left no visible trace of the potentially fatal tumor.

Earlier this month, Laurie Radtke and her husband, Jeff, found themselves in a battle against both time and modern medicine to save Taylor. Their daughter had been diagnosed with a brain tumor, and 27 doctors had refused to operate on the lesion because it was anchored too close to the carotid artery.

When it comes to medicine today, the motto should be “never give up” and keep seeking someone to help. Do your homework and stay informed thanks to the Internet.

Only a parent who has been through such an ordeal can know the heart wrenching stress, fear, hope and exhilaration of a successful conclusion to such an ordeal. They have my prayers.

The parents went to Arizona, not canada or england or even cuba.

They must have missed mickey moore's movie on health care.

Twenty seven doctors turned them down, but they had Faith. It is what we all need to overcome.

Thanks for the post.

Amen.

If Mrs. Clinton and like thinking people have their way this child would not be operated on. All government control of medicine proposals include provisions against “futile care.” The pay for performance metrics and the push for “quality” reporting also militate against risky procedures—if they are publishing your mortality rate, the best way to keep it up is to only take easy cases. This is what happened under the much ballyhooed New York State cardiac report card. A physician at Johns Hopkins has a specialty of taking cases in the elderly that everyone else has refused. By looking at other than the usual measures he has been quite successful and given hope to many people.

By standing up for freedom one stands for hope against disease as well.

For now. Pray that this can continue in the last place on Earth that it's available: Free America.
