Whoops – Obama upsets 'gay' pooh-bah

The House Democratic leadership delayed a planned vote this past week on ENDA, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act of 2007. The bill, introduced by gay Rep. Barney Frank of Massachusetts, makes employment discrimination against homosexuals and bisexuals illegal.

One reason momentum on moving the legislation has stalled is because lesbian Rep. Tammy Baldwin from Wisconsin wants a provision covering transsexuals and transgenders – originally in, then removed – put back in.

President Bush has indicated that, if passed, he will veto this legislation. And he should.

There are a good number of reasons offered by the administration, and by others, why this bill is constitutionally problematic.

But beyond the bill's many technical constitutional difficulties, it's worth considering it in the context of the ongoing cultural war taking place in this country.

Those pushing ENDA would have us believe that this is about making our country more just, fairer, freer. But is this really what is going on?

Consider the uproar of recent days among Sen. Barack Obama's gay constituency about his hiring of gospel singer Donny McClurkin to perform in Obama's campaign tour through South Carolina.

Why don't we just pass a law saying you can't refuse a job for anyone for any reason, and leave it at that? Whoever shows up first (unless it's a white heterosexual male) gets the job, and you can't criticize them if they don't know how to, say, fly a plane or use a cement mixer, and you must pay them oh $30 an hour with benefits and let them use your car if they need it, too.

Then everyone will be happy!

"Those pushing ENDA..."

Yuck!

'gay' pooh-bah

Shouldn't there be a "p" instead of an "h" at the end of that second word?

If only the Ds would apply this law to ALL employers - including Hollywood. Why can't a Japanese man have been the love interest in The American President?

Just in regards to your tagline. What is your thought on Darwinian Evolution and Intelligent Design theories?

I tend to think Darwin had a good idea which is shot full of holes, though I don't pretend to understand all of it and haven't read all of his writings. I have to side with Tom Wolfe and say Darwin's theories will be discarded within fifty years, though nothing in his work about evolution precludes the existence of God. I think ID theories are ridiculous.

That is so closed minded. What about people who have sex with animals? Or people into S%M? Why are they excluded? Democrats are such bigots!!! And people with shoe or foot fetishes like Dick Morris. why doesn't the legislation cover those???? And can people really help that they are pedophiles? I can't not believe the Democrats are such friggin bigots to leave out all sorts of other sexual orientations.

How about polygamy? Polygamist suffer from discrimination all the time. They have the “polygamist gene” and cannot help but gravitate to polygamy. They are born that way

How about gay sheep lovers too? How come the gays aren’t trying to get them on this bill?

I know it’s just me but personally, anything you see in the barnyard should be legalized. A landlord should not be a allowed to discriminate against me if I want to bring my partner who is a goat to live with me

As the article states, the overriding goal of the gay lobby is not making society freer or fairer, but making any criticism of the gay lifestyle illegal. It’s about suppression of free speech, pure and simple.

Personally, I work in NYC and have several gay colleagues and it doesn’t bother me a bit. On a personal and workday level, I really couldn’t care less about this issue.

But when it comes to them pushing “gay awareness” in schools (sometimes to children as young as 5 years old), against the wishes of the parents, and when it comes to them effectively trying to outlaw Christian teachings, and when it comes to them wanting to suppress free and open discussions of psychological goals and methodologies involved in a person deciding not to be gay anymore, I am totally repelled by their totalitarian and anti-freedom actions.

On a personal level I have a live and let-live attitude toward gays. But when it comes to politics, and their obvious goal to do an extreme makeover of education and free-speech, I am totally against the gay power lobby.

This is a well written piece.

Obama's a made-up character, my hoipe is that he compromises her hienous enough that blacks and women see both for the charlatans that they are.

Let me put it this way;

Obama's has all of the authenticity of a white boys band pretending to be ghetto, he is a complete fabrication.

The cover of his first book "My father something or other"(not the real title) pictures a white man and a black woman. Not that its important but weren't his parents exactly the opposite?

From a news story -

Why has he been so successful? His deceased Kenyan father, Barack Hussein Obama, had benefited from the famous airlift of Kenyans in the 1960’s, and won a scholarship to further his education in Hawaii — spearheaded by a former Kenyan cabinet minister, the late Tom Mboya.

He is not embarrassed by his father’s goat-herding heritage. Once in America, his father paved his way to enter Harvard, graduating with an advanced degree in Economics. His father also met and married a Caucasian woman, Shirley Ann Dunham, from Kansas, Missouri. Barack Obama, Jr., was born of that union. But the couple divorced two years after his birth. His father later decided to return home and make a worthy contribution to his beloved homeland, serving as an economist in Kenya’s Treasury department.

Obama’s parents are now deceased, but the young Obama never abandoned his roots, even though be barely knew his father.

That quotation from a news story sounds like it was written by someone in the Obama campaign.

I believe the name of his book was Dreams from my father.
