SHREVEPORT, La. -- A noose found in a doctors' break room at LSU Health Sciences Center might be a piece of rope fashioned with a knot and a loop used to treat orthopedic patients, the head of the facility said.
After a maintenance worker found the rope on Wednesday, administrators at the hospital and medical school notified federal authorities because they were concerned the rope with loops on each end might have been placed in the break room to intimidate blacks.
But on Thursday, Dr. John McDonald, the hospital's top administrator, said the rope might be one used by surgeons to give traction to fracture patients.
To someone unfamiliar with medical procedures, the series of knots and loops could appear to be a hangman's noose.
University police are investigating how the rope got there and they will turn over their findings to the U.S. attorney's office and the FBI in Shreveport.
Since the Jena Six case made headlines, there have been a number of other nooses found in high-profile incidents around the country _ in a black Coast Guard cadet's bag, on a Maryland college campus, and on the office door of a black professor at Columbia University in New York.
The Jena case involves six black Louisiana teenagers charged with the beating of a white student. The incident happened after nooses were hung from a tree on a high school campus there _ a symbol of the lynching violence of the segregation era.
"Nooses don't kill people...."
Wonder why this maintenance worker didn't ask any of the staff at the hospital what that rope was? He went straight to the Feds. "What a maroon." as Bugs would say.
I think this worker needs to be investigated by the feds for reporting a non existent hate crime—actually, a hate crime in reverse.

"And their it was! And I courageously wrestled it and put it in a bag so no one else could get hurt..."
The concept of “hate crime” is a liberal contrivance used to justify a punishment that goes beyond that prescribed by law merely to achieve satisfaction by the acuser.
It ought to be illegal if the criteria of cruel and unusual punishment is used.
Shades of the DC government niggardly fiasco.
Anybody remember the “church fires” of 1996? This is straight out of the clinton playbook. Gotta get out there and scare the black folks. Hillary has no hope if she doesn’t get 110% of the black vote.
That’s noose to me.
That was wonderful...I am responsible for someone else’s ignorance and illiteracy. That was a killer.

“...administrators at the hospital and medical school notified federal authorities...”
The federal government has its nose in everything. Too many useless bureaucrats. If a bureaucrat isn’t involved in national defense, fire him, give him a cardboard box and a map to the nearest bridge.
You don’t use a slip not to apply traction. That would end up being a tourniquet.
If this indicates the intelligence level of the administrators at the medical school, remind me never to visit that place.
Huh? Maybe a rope with a loop on both ends can be used to hang two blacks at once? These medical staffers are efficient!
So now all you have to do if you want publicity is go to Home Depot, buy a rope, make a noose, plant it somewhere (at your workplace, if you don’t like your boss) and then “find” it and start screaming bloody murder to the police and the ever-gullible press. Gee! What fun! And all for the price of a piece of rope!
“He went straight to the Feds. “What a maroon.” as Bugs would say.”
No, he isn’t. He is a foot-soldier in a war that some don’t even know is going on.
Of course, we all agree that every time somebody plants or finds a noose somewhere, the whole world needs to know about it.
I doubt it was fame the accuser was seeking. My guess would be a quick paycheck.
