My great-grandfather was among those miners who Pancho Villa tried to murder. For those who don’t know, miners at a site in northern Mexico were shepherded into a mine and threatened with death by dynamite - Pancho Villa was going to blow up the mine and buy them alive. Today Pancho Villa is idolized as a great national hero while in reality he was nothing but a criminal. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that narco trafficantes are often perceived heroically by the Mexican public and glamourized in the popular press, music, and movies.
I have freinds who are Mexican citizens and others who are naturalized U.S. citizens, and they are fine people I admire. But the government of Mexico makes for a very poor neighbor. NO BORDERS, Fox says. Huh! Not until Mexico changes it’s xenophobic laws concerning U.S. citizens should we rest easy.
