There's a mind picture I can enjoy.

If what I just wrote made you sad or angry,
it was probably just a joke.
As they say, behind every strong man is a strong woman.
What's so startling about that admission? I'm sure all candidates' wives feel exactly the same. So this story is just another re-hash of the 'woman behind the man' nonsense they've been heaping on Jeri from the beginning. Interesting that we haven't seen any stories like this about Cindy McCain, Michelle Obama, Ann Romney, or any of the other wives.
i was for fred,
but he doesn’t have the
drive to win.
Is this the same Ronald Kessler from Newsmax.com?
I’m trying to figure out what the headline has to do with the article.
I think the headline is focusing on these lines:
>>>The problem is that she is regarded as keener on victory than he is.<<<
>>>but there is a widespread feeling that she got her husband into this business. I dont think he really wants the job. He seems to be treating it as a part-time effort, a nice way to pass the time of day.<<<
>>>It is Jeri, as much as Fred, who has been winning them over.<<<<
>>>Before marrying Thompson, Jeri worked for the Republican National Committee in Washington, gaining an impressive contacts book and knowledge of the hot-button conservative issues. <<<<
Just a guess.
He has been the beneficiary of a campaign of Republican grassroots to draft him, he now enjoys a level of support which is unsupported by the facts. Fred’s appearances in Florida this last week have been the weakest showing of a candidate since Sam Brownback. As a Presidential candidate, Sam Brownback can sell out a Christian Fund-raiser weeks in advance. Fred cannot. This is a reluctant testimony that I give. I would love for Fred to be the great white hope. Now watch as his supporters trash you for posting this article, and me for giving an honest testimony.
Anybody think there is a chance that Thompson and McCain team up?
Good guess!! Those stuck out to me, too. Maybe Fred would make a good president. He can pose for pictures and make folksy comments and Jeri can run the country behind the scenes.
Way hotter than that Grace Coolidge and Lucy Ware Webb Hayes. Probably only Elizabeth Hoes Van Buren and Helen Heron Taft could even hold a candle to her.
>>>Before marrying Thompson, Jeri worked for the Republican National Committee in Washington, gaining an impressive contacts book and knowledge of the hot-button conservative issues. <<<<
Huh. Jeri was in RNC during Jim Nicholson. Interesting.
I remember Nicholson.

G.O.P. Urged to Quit Group Called Racist
The chairman of the Republican National Committee called on his fellow party members today to resign from the Council of Conservative Citizens, saying ‘’it appears that this group does hold racist views.’’
‘’A member of the party of Lincoln should not belong to such an organization,’’ said the chairman, Jim Nicholson.
He appealed directly to Buddy Witherspoon, one of the party’s national committee members from South Carolina, to resign from the council. Mr. Witherspoon told Mr. Nicholson that he would not.
Mr. Witherspoon insisted that the council’s South Carolina chapter held no racist views, but was simply an advocate for conservative causes, especially the right to display the Confederate flag in the South.
The council, based in St. Louis, has become a national embarrassment for the committee in recent weeks amid reports that two Republicans, Senator Trent Lott of Mississippi, the majority leader, and Representative Bob Barr of Georgia, spoke at its meetings. Both have distanced themselves from the group.
NOTE again, Party of Lincoln:
>>>But as long as candidates such as former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke, now campaigning for Congress in Louisiana, feel at home in the GOP, the party of Lincoln is going to be viewed with suspicion by minorities. <<<

Log Cabin Republicans, Inc.
Excerpt:
RNC Chairman Jim Nicholson insisted there is a cause for optimism about GOP relations with minorities. He said their shared legacy, dating back to the partys founding on an anti-slavery platform in 1854, is a foundation on which to build better relations.
In addition, the partys next presidential nominee could help it overcome the legacy of Nixons Southern Strategy with a more moderate message such as compassionate conservatism, a favorite term of Gov. George W. Bush of Texas.
But as long as candidates such as former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke, now campaigning for Congress in Louisiana, feel at home in the GOP, the party of Lincoln is going to be viewed with suspicion by minorities.
“Anybody think there is a chance that Thompson and McCain team up?”
If so, I give Ron Paul the inside track.
You were for Fred...
Just curious, are you basing your current position on news reports, personal anecdotes, policy issues or in person experience?
Thompson did co-chair McCain in 2000.
McCain was also endorsed by the Log Cabin Republicans.
fred’s not getting traction.
“Im trying to figure out what the headline has to do with the article”
Me too.
