how about we make congress, senate and the president, etc. a non paid position. Compensatory only salaries. Think how much money we’d have to NOT pay out....

You are mean! If that face were to appear at our door on Halloween night, we would faint dead away. That face would scare Dracula!

Edwards would rob us blind and walk away with the money.

John Edwards says if he's elected president, he'll institute a New Deal-like suite of programs to fight poverty

We already got one. Its our educational system. Anybody that wants an education can get one. Anyone with an education doesn't have to worry about minimum wage. I've seen people with their backs to the wall earn BS degrees from decent college with the programs we now have. We don't need any stinking new programs.

I posted this on another thread, but it is appropriate gere as well:

Today, I had a cup of coffee with a well-connected Democrat friend. I asked him why local boy John Edwards is still in the race. His reply shocked me due to its raw, in-your-face impact. Essentially, he said that in 2008, the USA will not elect a woman, black, Mormon or Jew as POTUS, and that Catholics were in the “maybe” category. That leaves Edwards on the Democrat side as the leading Protestant white guy and Thompson, McCain and maybe Rudy on the Republican side. Gore could beat Edwards in a heartbeat, he said. The issue at hand for the Democrat leadership is “how do they knock out Hillary so they have a chance of taking the White House?”. He also said that many in the Democrat party have resigned themselves to losing the Presidential race but keeping the House and Senate.
FWIW

He never answered your question.

That was all very interesting, but why is someone who does not have a bat's chance in Hell of securing the nomination or of even breaking out of single digits, and who would also be outright deluded if he believes that any Clinton would let him anywhere near their short list for VP, still running?

And I would have simply replied, "you haven't answered my question."

LOL.

Probably true.

I note he is going to wait until elected before doing so in order for the taxpayers to foot the bill.

Do you really expect him to give up $400 hair cuts? Don’t think so.

You are right — he did not answer my question, but I walked away with the impression that Edwards was too far into the process to pull out (kind of like Nifong, another Democrat).
Edwards offers NOTHING as VP since he cannot carry NC. Been there - done that.

I cannot figure out Edwards. Waiting for the party to puke up Hillary, step over Obama and anoint him certainly is delusional. Maybe he is hoping that Hillary gets zapped by Holy lightning and he is called up. Who knows...the mind of a personal injury trial lawyer who channels dead babies.

I know what you mean. - Sometimes, I just do not understand the whole liberal thought process and I start to feel stupid. :)

Edwards’s logic eludes me.

The only objective logic I see in Edwards staying in the race is for him to pick up some delegates and barter them to HRC for a cabinet job. But, I am straining to see how that works after he has dissed her so much...
