CRYSTAL LAKE The Illinois Minuteman Projects anti-illegal immigration seminar at McHenry County College went off with little contention Friday, two months after its original forum was canceled.
Rosanna Pulido, who recently stepped down from her position as the organizations director to become a field representative for the Federation for American Immigration Reform, briefly addressed the first planned seminar, citing the Holiday Inns stance that she had not been truthful in saying who she was.
Folks, thats a lie, she said. Im Rosanna Pulido. Ive been Rosanna Pulido for 51 years.
She also said MCC president Walt Packard told her that the Minutemen were a group known for inciting violence, a charge she denies.
Id be very grieved that after the meeting people have just come here to get their ears tickled, she said. I believe that moral outrage is the greatest motivator.
In August, the Minuteman Projects seminar at the Crystal Lake Holiday Inn was canceled after police informed the hotel that it would have to spend up to $3,500 on extra police to handle protesters at the McHenry County Peace Groups planned demonstration in opposition to the Minutemen.
Attorneys for the Holiday Inn filed an emergency restraining order against the Minutemen, saying the group breached its contract, which was upheld by a judge.
On Wednesday, members of MCC student organization Latinos Unidos submitted a petition with about 400 signatures protesting the event.
The seminars highlighted speaker was Sheriff Dan Beck from Allen County, Ohio, who gained national attention for his tough stance on illegal immigration.
The advocates for illegal immigrants want law enforcement to pick and choose which laws we enforce on particular groups of people rather than enforce the laws fairly on everyone, he said.

Immigration Ping Please.
HEY HIJINX, immediately after the Sheriff Beck meeting I left for the Arizona/Mexico Border. There was a Minuteman there named HIJINX. I went up to him and said HEY!! Are you HIJINX from FREEREPUBLIC!! Obviously I was out of luck!!
Oh, I am so sorry! You’re not still here, are you? If you are, I’ll buy you lunch tomorrow.
I’ve discovered that my screenname is not at all unique...
Ping!
No I am in the hotel right now and my flight to Chicago is leaving at 6am!!
It was great to be out close to the border, PEACE and QUIET!! except for an occasional illegal alien running by.
It certainly is quiet out here - one of the reasons I don’t think I’ll ever consider moving away.
I’ve lived in a lot of big cities, and they no longer have any appeal for me.
Hope you have a smooth, uneventful flight home!
There is only one HiJinx from FR, though. And that is what really counts!
I only have met you once, and that was at one of the rallies at Ft. Huachuca’s main gate a few years ago in support of our President and our gallant troops.
You directed myself and AZLadyHawke to the corner of BST and Fry at the Main gate, where we engaged the anti-American idiots as best we could. I was the 6’ 2” guy in the red shirt and black 10 gallon holding Old Glory high and proud.
We need to do that again. The anti-American turds are going to be there this November at the Main Gate.
See you there, Brother. Our bretheren have this war won. We need to cinch the nail here at home.
You got it...the war is indeed being fought here, and it’s one way we can still contribute to the effort.
Thanks for the ping. Good news. Thanks to Sarah Sutschek, and thanks to y’all.
This is an ambiguous sentence. What was upheld, the restraining order or the agreement that the Holiday Inn would host the event?
The restraining order.
