WASHINGTON - New York's plan to create three types of driver's licenses, including one for illegal immigrants, has everyone talking _ everyone except the state's Democratic senators, Hillary Rodham Clinton and Charles Schumer.

New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, a fellow Democrat, announced over the weekend that he had struck a deal with federal homeland security officials to create a three-tiered state system of licenses.

No way they should be allowed to pass on taking a stance on this NYS issue. Any reasonable press would absolutely hammer them everytime they go out in public.

Hillary (and Smuckie too of course) needs to cough up whatever position she polls on it and then suffer the consequences.

“. . .(Clinton believes)that federal inaction on comprehensive immigration reform has created conditions where states feel compelled to act on their own.”

Some states are deploying their National Guard on the border and proposing a year in jail for illegals. Spitzer is bent on putting them all on the voter rolls because it is the only chance he has for reelection in 2010.

The latest word is that the Queen herself Hillary, or at least her camp pressured Spitzer to back down because they were fearful of the backlash. That doesn’t mean anything even if true because she’s been running around the country promising her pets the illegal aliens everything under the sun and hasn’t been called much on it yet. But for now anyway Spitzer’s been steamrolled.

Spitzer is a raving paranoid thug who is a severe liablity to Hillary. He does nothing but pick needless fights and engages in endless threatening, bizarre rage-aholic behaviour.

He is making the NY democrat party machine exceedingly nervous.

Another major part of Spitzer's scheme is that those of us who'll want the REAL ID or enhanced license to board planes or cross into Canada, which will include just about every legal resident will have to pay more than for the non-compliant license.

Under what authority does Spitzer have to arbitrarily raise licensing fees? All revenue increases must originate from the Legislature only so I don't see how the latest scam/scheme of his can be enacted without legislative input. That's probably why he's waiting a year to do this in the hopes that the GOP loses the Senate, otherwise his plans for rewarding lawbreaking future voters are going nowhere.

I would love to see Spitzer step on Bruno again. Bruno bites back. When Bruno went public with Spitzer’s dirty tricks, Spitzer was actually silent.

IIRC, we already have the most expensive lisences in the US (I could be wrong)

That’s what I thought too but then NY is the highest taxed state in the country for just about everything.

Will these licenses be good in all 50 states? If so, what if an illegal from NY moves to PA and wants to apply for a PA license, does he get it?

Good question - what if an illegal with a NY license moves to PA - and wants to vote?

Even worse! We have a tough enough time with the homeless, Rep. Brady and buses in Philly.

That's a very liberal stance to take.

Liberals just talk what they think the public wants to hear, promote it, and when they implement it and it doesn't work, blame it on a Conservative when they are elected after the public gets fed up with their political shenanigans and then wait until it's forgotten and then start all over again.
