CAVUTO: But now it seems to be registering in these latest polls that have you up. I think, in Iowa, you and Rudy Giuliani are essentially tied. Nationally, in some of them, you place above Mitt Romney.
What is going on?
HUCKABEE: The message is getting through.
People are looking for a candidate who is just straightforward, and I think is giving them a sense that the message is authentic. I am not saying anything different. I think you hit it on the head without even realizing it. I am saying the same thing that I said before.
CAVUTO: I never realize what I'm asking, so...
HUCKABEE: But I think that is a lot of it, is that people say, this guy is saying what he said before. He's not just changing his message to run for president.
And, if there is anything that people are looking for, it's somebody who has true convictions and hopefully will communicate them, and then explain why that will work for the economy.
CAVUTO: But, you know, why I think you are registering now, Governor, for good or ill, is they are picking on you more. And one of the things you hear a lot is, you know, when he was running things back in Arkansas, he was a taxer. He was a liberal on that stuff. So, he's not what he appears to be.
HUCKABEE: Well, I was anything but a liberal in Arkansas. That would really surprise a lot of the Democrat legislators who beat me over the head about being too far to the right.
But here's what I did do. I did govern...

I think he bought into the liberal accusation that GOP stands for ‘rich white guys’, so the “NEW AGE” GOP has decided to keep their “BIG TENT” image by application of ‘compassionate’ to conservatism. Problem with their ‘compassion’ is they are taking what is NOT their’s to take and attempt to guilt conservatives with their ugly paint as uncaring and selfish. Why these who preach this brand of conservatism do not take their missionary work to the third world is beyond me. No they have set out the welcome mat and demand US to fund their compassion.
There IS nothing Christian about their plans or ideology, they have NO RIGHT to pass out other peoples blessings. They want to extend those blessings to the peoples of this world, then they should be teaching/preaching what it is that is required to be blessed.
I didn’t see his Cavuto interview, but I did catch most of the O’Reilly interview.
Huckabee did well.

That’s some high priest. I like his Psalms...
We’re sure in agreement on this one.
Thanks.
I agree completely.
This is one major factor that has caused me to be so outspoken against illegal aliens. This is just an attempt to flood the nation with another group of people who can be easily manipulated by promise of goodies from the political class.
That’s the last thing we need.
The war on poverty is a hopeless quagmire. What is the exit strategy?
I believe a program could be designed that would provide a very meager place for folks to live in a dorm setting, under military type ground rules, as long as these persons would apply themselves in an entry level position while being taught a trade or other rudimentary skills. If they kept themselves clean and applied themselves, they could enter the general population as a productive member in a relatively short period of time.
I would not allow the homeless to bother other people who worked for a living. I wouldn’t let them flop in cities creating a problem for those who have applied themselves either.
This would take a lot of study, but I would work up the numbers to see what was the best way to manage these people. If they didn’t want to apply themselves, I might find a place to build a compound and send them there.
At any time, if they decided to dedicate themselves to changing their lives, I’d make it available to them to enter one of the available programs.
Even though these programs would cost money, I’d make sure it came out of the funds already dedicated to the poor. And I’d find a way to cut those funds to the bone. It is not fair what we are asking working people to support. Most of their money should be their own, and we should end putting (or nation) them further in debt immediately.
This would be a comprehensive effort that would also address the social security, medicare, healthcare and medical insurance programs.
We need to move the government out of these areas. Programs should be devised to provide ways the private citizen could self-insure for retirement and short/long term healthcare.
Then we need to let the private sector heal itself and write laws to make sure the federal givernment never gets involved in those programs again.
This is the ten minute version. It needs a lot of work, but it is a core belief of mine that this is what we need to be working toward as a nation.
“The only candidate with a tax plan.”
HAH! Although Huckabee has conveniently adopted Boortz’s Fair Tax plan recently, he was known for being a tax-hiker while governor of Arkansas, constantly berating any conservative opponents to such tax increases as not wanting to help the poor or do something good for the state. A man should be judged by his record, not his campaign-trail rhetoric.
