Clinton Up By 8 Over Giuliani In Pew Poll
US News & World Report ^ | 11/1/07 | Staff

Posted on 11/01/2007 8:50:10 AM PDT by Ol' Sparky

A Pew Research Center poll out this morning shows Hillary Clinton leading Rudy Giuliani 51%-43% in a 2008 trial heat. Clinton is propelled to her lead by a massive lead among women voters she tops Giuliani 57%-37% among them. Giuliani's lead among men is comparatively small at 49%-44%. Clinton also benefits from massive support from those in the lower income brackets. Among those with income of $20,000 to $29,999, Clinton leads 57%-37%. Among those with less than $20,000 in income, Clinton's lead is massive 72%-23%.

The AP reports the Pew poll also suggests there may be more trouble for Giuliani in the offing, as it finds "more than half of white evangelical Republicans would consider voting for a conservative third-party candidate should the 2008 presidential race pit Hillary Rodham Clinton against Rudy Giuliani." The survey was the "latest reading of discontent among one of the GOP's cornerstone voting blocs. Giuliani, the leading Republican contender in most national polls, is a former New York mayor whose views on abortion, gays and guns are considered too moderate by many conservatives." According to the poll, "55 percent of white evangelical Republicans said they would consider a conservative who ran as a third-party candidate. Forty-two percent said they would not."

It’s PEW. Not like it is a serious poll.

Also, why are we polling Clinton vrs Rudy a year away from the General Election when we don’t even know who the nominees will be yet?

Pew is a liberal leaning poll. Put any of the top republicans on a stage with Clinton - Thompson, Romney, Guilani and Huckabee and Clinton will come off looking very bad. Her support of Betray Us ad and calling Petraeus a liar to his face, her support of Spitzer’s plan to give drivers licenses to illegals and her childish behavior of making faces and rolling her eyes during GW’s speech to Congress and the Union after the 9/11 attacks will sink her. Take that to the bank.

This is hillary's most fervent hope. If it comes down to Rucy v hillary, expect hillary/soros to finance a conservative 3rd party candidate - her election depends on it. No clinton has ever become president by a majority of votes cast.

Well, perhaps if they polled Hitlery against a conservative, the conservative would do better.

And that’s fine and dandy. I have it in for the Clintons. That said, I don’t swallow every negative thing said about them hook, line and sinker.

Clinton can’t beat Rudy. She can’t beat any of the top tier Republican candidates. I’m not sure there’s more than a couple in the whole Republican field she could actually beat.

"Ol’ Sparkey has it in for Rudy."

I think you will find that most of us "have it in for Rudy"

It probably has something to do with the fact that we are conservatives and he is not.

In fact, he isn't much of a Republican either, if you pay attention to his record.

But hey, don't let little things like facts get in your way!

How convenient this poll comes out after serious questions are raised about Clinton's personality and judgement during the Dim debate.

I predict the MSM will unleash on Rudy a little bit sooner than later to give Clinton some cover fire.

“The poll involved telephone interviews with 2,007 people conducted from Oct. 17-23. It had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points. That included 648 Republicans and GOP-leaners, for whom the margin of sampling error was plus or minus 4.5 points.”

This is how you do a push poll. Call “people” not likely voters, not even registered voters, but “people.”
Three polls, zombie ( an admitted liar who lies about his own poll results) Rasmussen and Gallup (no conservative polling firm) have all said the beast is pull a 45% to 55% “I’d NEVER vote for her.” number. THIS is WHY ratpollsters HAVE To poll “people.” But I think this is great. Let them keep feeding false information to the beast. This election will NOT be an easy one for the beast.

I think the whole reason to do this “Clinton vrs Rudy” polling is to suck up all the media O2 and prevent any other candidates from gaining any traction. This is more of the Leftist Media's “Hillary vrs Rudy” is inevitable" PR campaign

If Rudy was legit, he'd endorse Thompson now.

Fact is, he knows he can't get the nomination. His whole campaign is for the purpose of raising a ton of campaign money to finance a permanent honeymoon for himself and his "friend" Bernard Kerik.

She ran his butt out of the race in 2000 and will do it all over again in 08. The excuse was his cancer but I think he saw the handwriting on the wall about his personal life as well as other things and cleared out.

Please read the fine print: "adults." Not registered voters (add 2-3% to the Republican) or "likely voters" (add another 2-3% for the Republican, then notice a hefty MOE.

In other words, when you cut out the baloney, the GOP is ahead.

It’s a poll of “adults,” not voters, and certainly not “likely voters.” This is a massive over-count of any Dems’ power. In all likelihood, it’s a GOP tie, at worst.

Depends on who you call a "conservative." SurveyUSA has produced a dozen polls at the state level in the last week and McCain beats Hillary in OH, NM, KY, KS, VA, (and if I recall, IA) and is within 5 in WA. In each of those polls, Rudy also beats Hillary, by about 1-2 points less than McCain.

Fred does far worse, often not winning and, in red states, winning by far less.

“The timing is suspicious” It’s like “uh-oh Hillary may be in trouble, so let’s put out some bs poll to pump up her ratings. No way is she doing that well - I’m sick of the lying, perverse media hacks who coverup for the Clintons...I heard Doug from Upland on the Laura show this morning talking about the Hillary movie and all the facts that are going to take place with regard to the court hearing. Will ANY newsmedia cover this story? DRUDGE even?
