Suicide car bomb kills 2 children, damages school
Multi-National Division – North
COB SPEICHER, Iraq – A suicide car bomb attack killed two children, injured 11 more, and damaged an Iraqi school Nov. 15 in the city of Kirkuk.
Additionally, the suicide car bomb killed an Iraqi teacher, two Iraqi policemen, and an unidentified Iraqi citizen.
The wounded children, eight wounded IPs and 11 wounded Iraqi citizens were transported to the Sulymaniyah Hospital. All the child casualties were under the age of 12.
The Emergency Services Unit of the Kirkuk Police Department was the apparent target of the bombing. The commander of the unit, General Katab, was among the injured in the blast.
“Our deepest condolences go out to the victims and their families of today’s attack. This senseless act of violence against innocent women and children and those who protect them, highlights the vicious nature of our enemy who contribute nothing except death and destruction for Kirkuk’s citizens,” said Col. David Paschal, commander of the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division. “The Soldiers of the Warrior Brigade will relentlessly hunt down those responsible for the attack and bring them to swift justice.”
Coalition Forces responded to help the IPs render assistance to the casualties.

Coalition forces target al-Qaeda networks; six terrorists killed, 10 detained
BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition forces killed six terrorists and detained 10 suspects today during operations targeting terrorist networks in central and northern Iraq.
During operations northeast of Samarra, Coalition forces targeted al-Qaeda in Iraq’s media and courier networks. Reports indicate the area was used as a propaganda house and is associated with a courier service for senior al-Qaeda in Iraq leaders. As the ground force approached the target building, armed men inside engaged Coalition forces with heavy fire. Responding in self-defense, Coalition forces engaged, killing two terrorists.
During the operation, two of the armed men were seen leaving the first building and maneuvering into a second building. Coalition forces called for the building’s occupants to come out, but no one complied. Perceiving hostile intent, Coalition forces engaged the armed men, killing four terrorists. As the ground force secured the buildings, they found three of the terrorists killed were wearing suicide vests, including one that had detonated. They also found a weapons cache, improvised explosive device making materials and a media cache. Coalition forces called for supporting aircraft to safely destroy the two buildings, which were assessed to be structurally unsafe.
Coalition forces also detained three suspects from two other locations during the operations in northeast Samarra. Supporting Coalition aircraft safely destroyed two known al-Qaeda in Iraq safe houses to prevent further use by terrorists.
In Baghdad, Coalition forces captured a wanted individual during operations targeting foreign terrorist facilitators, couriers and associates of senior al-Qaeda in Iraq leaders. In addition to the wanted individual, Coalition forces detained five other suspects without incident.
During operations southwest of Kirkuk, Coalition forces detained one suspect while targeting al-Qaeda in Iraq. Reports indicate the targeted individual is believed to be planning terrorist attacks in the region and is associated with al-Qaeda in Iraq leaders in Mosul.
“We are continuing to take the fight to the enemy,” said Maj. Winfield Danielson, MNF-I spokesman. “Operations like these are diminishing al-Qaeda’s ability to attack the Iraqi people.”

U.S. Embassy Beirut issued the following Warden Message on November 16:
The U.S. Embassy informs U.S. citizens about the potential for demonstrations and violent actions in Lebanon during the period of the election of a new president and selection of a new prime minister and cabinet. U.S. citizens are reminded to maintain a high level of vigilance and to take appropriate steps to increase their security awareness.
The term of the current president of Lebanon ends on November 24. The Lebanese parliament is supposed to elect a new president, who would take office immediately, by that date. Following that, there is to be a process for choosing a new prime minister and cabinet. There has been a political impasse in Lebanon since late 2006, with sharp divisions between political opponents. Given all of that, the Embassy is concerned about the possibility of demonstrations or even violent actions during the period around the expected election of a president.
The Embassy advises U.S. citizens to be especially vigilant from November 20 through 26, 2007. The Embassy is limiting the movement of Embassy personnel during this time, specifically in downtown Beirut near the parliament building and other government offices. The Embassy is also restricting all but essential travel to Beirut International Airport from November 20 to November 26. Even after November 26, U.S. citizens should remain vigilant and follow political developments closely, in particular if parliament does not elect a president by November 24.
The Embassy strongly urges Americans residing in Lebanon to review their planned movements and to remain vigilant during this time. American citizens should also carefully assess the need to visit popular gathering spots or other public places where large numbers of people gather.
Americans living or traveling in Lebanon are encouraged to register with the U.S. Embassy through the State Department’s travel registration website, http://travelregistration.state.gov, so that they can obtain updated information on travel and security within Lebanon. Americans without Internet access may register directly with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
The U.S. Embassy is located in Awkar, near Antelias, Beirut, Lebanon. Public access hours for American citizens are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. However, American citizens who require emergency services outside of these hours may contact the Embassy by telephone at any time. ARTICLE SNIPPET: “A man who placed an “obituary” on YouTube of one of the leading opponents of plans to build Europe’s biggest mosque near the London Olympics site has been arrested by police.
The video, “In memory of Councillor Alan Craig”, features the Leader of the Christian Peoples Alliance party, his wife and two daughters.
The two-minute video, which has now be taken down, was added by a man calling himself “abdullah1425” and was set to the strains of Elvis Presley’s song Always On My Mind and opened with its title and the words ‘To God we will all return’.
It featured a boxing scene with an Asian punching an opponent to the ground before ending with the message: “The mosque will be built in time for the 2012 Olympic Games.”
When the video was uploaded to Youtube, there was a web link from the Abbey Mills mega-mosque website to abdullah1425’s YouTube mini website, where he identifies himself as Muhammad, 23, from Stevenage, Herts. It also had links to material relating to Tablighi Jamaat.
In one comment to another user posted on the site he said: “Jihad starts from the moment your mother gave birth to you.” Police have taken a statement about the video from Cllr Craig. The man behind the posting has now been bailed to return to a police station in Hertfordshire.”
