He was witty indeed. A little off topic but here is a Churchill response I enjoy hearing repeated.
A young man, it may have even been a relative, corrected Churchill's grammar by telling him to never use a preposition to end a sentence. Winston Churchill responded to the young man by saying "Young man, that is the kind of impudence up with which I will not put".
