But, that doesn’t make him smart. Lazy bastard threw his dogs out (for bait?) and assumed nothing would happen to them. If the neighbor shot them for pooping on his lawn would that make it different because the neighbor is at the top of the food chain and his yard is his domain?

The dominence ends roughly a half mile off the Alaska hiway up there.

As it does just off the highway here in the remote part of the mountains of California where I live.

If you're naked, maybe. Risk does not equate to subordination - for the prepared, the risk of animal predation is down there with getting hit by a meteor.

Of course, if you go out like most people in America armed with a cell phone and house keys, you might run into an issue in the boondocks.

I'm always armed in the boondocks. A decade ago, I was almost killed by mountain lions while taking the trash out while at work.

That’s just not right.

Sorry, not sure I understand; there are a lot of things in this world that are "just not right" like Gang Violence, and Rampant Drug Sales, and Home Invasion Robbery, and the inability in many places to even own a gun to protect yourself and your family. Then there's the open and blatant discrimination against Christian Churches while schools are forcing students to assume the identity and customs of Muslims for a day, a week, or a month. And then there's Abortion and Gay Rights (and if you say anything to the contrary about them, you're charged with bigotry and hate speech).

What was it that's "just not right" again?

Wolves got another dog. Took him off his chain, dragged him into the woods, ate him, and took a nap. Might be the same pack, about 20 miles from the last reported incident on Hallowe’en. This one was Thanksgiving Day. We’re going to name the pack if their next victim is on Christmas Day.
