It is far safer in California than Iraq.

Depends on where you live in California.

No. The numbers are meaningless unless you know the number of people in the military each year.

*THE* most frustrating aspect of discussing these things... soooooo much needs to be explained to some people who.. just... can't ... THINK. it's painful..

Glad you followed up to explain this, i was beating my head at a wall reading the completely naive replies.

These numbers don’t seem to be in agreement those given in the CRS report (not actually a DoD report). How is it that everyone who reads the CRS report gives different numbers and different percentages? I encourage everyone to go to the source itself and do your own addition and percents. Each repeat of this message changes according to the author’s agenda. Facts ought to be facts, not always changing.

“These statistics are published by Congressional Research Service, and they may be confirmed by anyone at:

http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/natsec/RL32492.pdf";

I downloaded this report and find the stats on page 7.

I do note that the statistics show those of the 8 Clinton years - total 7,500 deaths

And the 7 Bush years total 8,792

I am kind of astounded by the number of people arguing in this forum without bothering to even go back and look at the document you posted. A document which in fact addresses most of their questions/arguments. However, I am not here to get into an argument. I was looking for the statistics themselves and I wanted to thank you for posting the link to the document.

Semper Fi.
