Little colored lights do NOT make a statement, you clods. They bring cheer to a dreary world. Oh, the BIMBOS.
I'm with you. Don't tell them, but white lights represent the clear light of God. (To my family, anyway.)
With title like this, at first I thought was humor. Then I saw was Colorado and I understood.
This time of year is so desolate looking with the trees having lost their leaves and all the plants dead. The snow isn’t covering everything up yet so I really like to see the lights. They brighten everything up so much instead of being so dreary.
“The natural question here is : are they going to ban traffic signals?”
No, they also contain yellow which matches the stripe down their backs.
Merry CHRISTmas to you!
HA!! AWESOME!!
Thank you.
Yes, I am suggesting exactly that.
Good for you! It is long past time that people of good will and logical thought joined together to stop the social pathology of Political Correctness. PC is a form of mental illness masquerading as tolerance in which one person's discomfort or offense is held to exercise a veto on all others' public expressions of faith, belief, policy, or whatever.
I am also Jewish and I genuinely look forward every year to seeing the bright red and green lights that signal the beginning of the Christmas (not "Winter") Season. I play Christmas (not Channukah) music in my house and happily join my Christian friends in singing along with them.
The willingness and ability of all persons to respect and enjoy each group publicly celebrating their faith is what has made America truly special and a beacon of hope to the world. That special quality is now threatened from two quarters: Left-wing atheists who impress their irrational fears and intentional policy preferences on others, and radical Islamists who deny to all others their choice of faith and freedom.
Whether you choose to do so in Latin or English or Hebrew, pray for America, and please help fight for her Constitution, in which is guaranteed freedom of (not "from") religion.
After all, the Muslim Jihad tradition and the African tribal warfare condition are just as valid as the native culture. /s
Does this “task force” has a name?
Who is paying the salaries of this “task force”?
Who is Seth Anthony? Who are the other members of this “task force” and how many are there on it?
I did a little digging, and I found nothing other than what is posted here. This article is long on reach and short on details. Some nebulous, unnamed “task force” decided that lights of a particular color should be banned, along with the implication that Christmas trees also be banned.
This smells.

Hey Gang, does anybody have an email for us to express ourselves?
I am in a feisty mood with nothing to do. This fits my mood.
Lets boogie on over there and cause some trouble.

I think I’ve come full circle on this. Now that kids are grown, I can think more rationally about this. Christmas is about marking the birth of Christ. Spending time with love ones, travel, gift exchanges and other cultural and ethnic customs are separate.
When a municipality decorates it should not be for a religious observance, but to make the atmosphere more friendly, pretty and to promote business and SHOPPING.
My new philosophy: private displays only of religious holiday symbols. Santa and reindeer are not religious, but are evocative of Christmas and don’t belong on public property. Same for menorahs, Christmas trees, crescents, shamrocks, etc. Private property on town square and shopping areas should display whatever they want and churches and temples should prominently display their important religious symbols.
As for lights and garland, I’d agree with refraining from the red and green combo, which can only be construed as relating to Christmas. But I’d say go with white (I see white lights year round in some trendy areas) or multi-colored. Whatever makes people smile and want to spend money. As a municipality’sChristmas decorations age, they should replace them with more generic festive decorations.
I’ve always thought it nice when municipalities allow multiple religious symbols for short times of the year. However, we are a diverse country and the town or state should not get involved in determining which symbols are tasteful, what might offend some, and what percentage should be the point at which a group be counted or discounted.
Historically many groups have never expressed concern about religious displays. Non-Christian Asians have had virtually no municipal recognition of their holidays and I have heard of very little of protest from Hindus, or Buddhists or even Native Americans. I have never even given a thought to if they have felt uncomfortable or slighted.
Just because newer Americans (or the children of other long-quiet American groups) don’t feel the need to be so silent doesn’t make their point less valid.
I guess I did not express myself completely. I apologize.
I do not think that this is a real story.
My casual search should have turned up more info than it did. I think that this is a manufactured story, intended to rile people up.
It’s working.
What pagan death cult celebration are you talking about? Not Chanukah, I hope!
