Even Fred Thompson doubts he'll be president

Even Fred Thompson doesn’t think he will become president. Chatting off-air to a television reporter, a stunningly candid off-the-cuff quip from the Hollywood actor cemented the impression that his heart is not in the 2008 race.

Trying to encourage his studio to hurry up so an interview could start, Carl Cameron of Fox News said into his microphone: “The next president of the United States has a schedule to keep.” Standing beside him, a deadpan Mr Thompson interjected: “And so do I.”

As some Thompson aides looked bemused and others cringed, a taken-aback Mr Cameron, Fox’s chief political correspondent, exclaimed: “You can’t do that kind of stuff!”

The self-deprecating quip said much about the former Tennessee senator’s candidacy.

He was lampooned mercilessly after a YouTube clip showing him asking an audience Iowa underwhelmed by his stump speech: “First of all, could I have a round of applause?”

This is very discouraging. Libs, MSM, Dems, Hollywood and California are all hoping for Fred to stay in the race. The Hollywood media want to see Clinton fight the dude from Law and Order.

It was a joke, Tony. Fred’s typical self-deprecating humor at work.

And it’s a refreshing contrast to the kind of spew that follows Hillary’s premise “When I’m President....”. She thinks she is entitled, he may be close to indifferent. I’ll go with the latter approach.

I doubt it. I don’t think his lawyer would have approved the idea of him posting here himself. He probably just issued a badge to someone else.

Huh? What are you smoking? Hollywood libs would like Fred, Duncan and the rest to die in a horrible plane crash. This is the same paper which says Giuliani is the most influential conservative in the U.S. today.
As an actor, Fred knows the same thing President Reagan knew; that there are deep emotions in the hearts of good people which must be touched in order to move them to the right action, whether in life or the voting booth.
Governor Romney will not do this with his managerial approach. That’s not a rip, but an observation.

Sort of refreshing to see someone who will not do and say anything to achieve that power that they have wanted all their life, because they desperately want to control people and have everyone bow down to them. Oh wait, thats the she-devil.

Interesting a MittMutt has to go to a UK Commie rag to get information to post against competition that has a double-digit lead in the polls. That speaks for itself. FEAR I tell ya, FEAR.

It’s just a silly headline.

Compare Thompson’s quip to Hillary’s crying.
