he supports the state’s right to self govern the abortion issue.

You might want to check Fred's voting records.

100% Pro-Life. On the record.

"100% voting record on abortion issues while in the Senate." Planned Parenthood gave him a ZERO rating because of his pro-life voting record. NARAL (National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League) gave him an "F" rating when considering potential vice-presidential candidates in 2000."

But I suppose you support Big Federal Government telling you what to do...

Fred wants YOU to have that freedom.

That leaves us with only one unanswered question: "When will the Dodo bird fly the coup to restart his solo career as an independent/libertarian?"

Gee, what a dopey post.

Fred’s recent revelation that he supports the state’s right to self govern the abortion issue.

States don't have "rights" and Fred never said that they did. States are granted powers by the Constitution.

You have no clue what Fred (or the Constitution) stands for.

Well, they are commonly referred to as "States Rights" by a lot of folks yep, yep, yep. BUT, yea, you got it, you know what Fred is referring to. And what others are saying. It is a "State's Right." Which means if a State wants a thing to "be so" it passes a State Law.

MUCH easer than a u. S. Constitutional Amendment!

"This is very discouraging."

Discouraging for whom? Don't you know a hit piece when you see it?

Sure you do, now go back to your Willard worshiping.

Anyone who really wants to be president isn't fit for the job.

Personally, I don’t trust anyone without a sense of humor. The fact that Thompson doesn’t take himself too seriously is a plus for any human being. And, I find a self-deprecating sense of humor to be endearing. Ronald Reagan had that, as have all great leaders. I previously hadn’t had my mind made up. But everything I’m hearing about Thompson is helping me make that decision easier. Everything the media is finding “appalling,” I’m finding to be refreshing.

It's not about what I want or believe. It's about what the voting public will do. There is no way the conservatives are going to give John McCain the GOP nomination after he offered citizenship to illegals and there is no way that the Pro-life voters are going to give Fred the GOP nomination if he believes in a state's right to choose. They want a constitutional amendment banning all abortions, nationwide. Fred doesn't.

OBTW, Fred just dropped below McCain in the polls according to realclearpolitics.com.

Apparently they don't want it all that much...

You aren’t scoring any points (with me anyway) for Romney by posting negative things about other candidates. Huge turnoff, IMHO.

Geesh where did everyones sense of humor go? This is why alot of good people dont run for office. Lighten up and get a grip! Laugh once in a while...its good for the soul.

What? You don't want to play the internet flame game?

Scorch, burn, blister, tar & feather, insult, hate,...anything but have a respectable conversation. Tell each other all about our Christian values while were torching each other with flamethrowers and making snoody, sarcastic remarks.

Coupled with his at-times stumbling campaign, it *does* make him look goofy.

I might well end up supporting him in the primaries - haven’t made up my mind. I like his policies very much, but don’t much care for the way he’s started his run.

But as I said before, there’s still time for him to find his stride. He’ll need to, if he has any hope of winning either the nomination or the White House itself.

They want a constitutional amendment banning all abortions, nationwide. Fred doesn't.

Many others don't have a problem with Fred's approach either.

LINK

"The head of National Right to life says he's not troubled by Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson's opposition to federal legislation ending abortion, and therefore right-to-life activists across the U.S. should not be troubled as well."

David Osteen, director of National Right to Life, says he does not have a problem with Thompson's stance because a human life amendment has been a "long-term" goal of the pro-life movement.

Osteen says "what's more important" is that Thompson had a solid pro-life record while in the Senate, wants to overturn Roe v. Wade, and would appoint judges who would reverse Roe. "He's pro-life, he's got a strong pro-life voting record in the Senate, [he] was a consistent vote for the pro-life side during the eight years he served in the U.S. Senate -- and I think his record speaks for itself,"

It does.
