SIERRA VISTA — The public is invited to honor and support veterans and active duty soldiers by attending the Veterans Day Parade on Saturday.
The parade is scheduled to step off at 9 a.m. at Seventh Street and Fry Boulevard and will travel east on Fry to Veterans’ Memorial Park. Fry will be closed between these points beginning at approximately 8:50 a.m. through the duration of the parade.
Seventh Street, Marianne Drive, Lenzner Avenue and Wilcox Drive (between Seventh Street and Lenzner Avenue) will be closed to traffic beginning at 7 a.m. to provide the staging area for the parade.
Parade participants should contact Lee Elaban, superintendent of the city’s leisure services, at 458-7922, by Wednesday as to what time they need to arrive at the staging area. To avoid traffic delays, participants should be dropped off at Calvary Chapel on Marianne Drive (behind Wendy’s) and walk to the staging area on Wilcox Drive.
After the parade, a short ceremony will take place at Veterans’ Memorial Park. The Tucson Air National Guard Squadron plans to overfly the park.
Hi SandRat,
Albany Oregon also is having a Veterans Day Parade, as is Auburn, Washington. I just wish more communities would have parades to honor our VETS..thank you for your service to our country!!
Bought my Poppy today too.
Poppys galore in Albany Oregon, I don’t know if you read my post from Sunday, but the Albany Oregon Vets parade is the Largest west of the Mississippi, ususally 40,000 folks show up. Pretty good for a small town!!! :)
You got us beat in #s.
Numbers/snumbers, ther’s still enough patriotic Americans out there who remember our Vets sacrifices to still make this the best country EVER!!
Vets that will be there begin with the tail end China Service in the ‘30s, from all theaters of operation through to today.
Us semi-old vets (LOL) remember they’re sacrifice, I’m just a little miffed that we don’t have more posts to this thread, but then again, I’m a newbie!!:)
Don’t forget Golden Corral’s “Military Appreciation Day” November 12, 2007. Free dinner and drinks for Military (Present and Past) http://www.goldencorral.net/military/
It will grow. Expect to see more threads too come Veteran’s Day Weekend.
Roger That!!!!
