Kerry’s critics swing back
The Patriot Ledger ^ | Nov 6, 2007 | Tom Benner

Posted on 11/06/2007 6:38:16 PM PST by Phil Harmonic

BOSTON - A liar. A traitor. Hanoi John.

U.S. Sen. John Kerry’s comments on Monday regarding a possible future bid for the presidency, and his arming up against the group Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, are reopening old wounds from the Vietnam War and the 2004 presidential race.

``He’s a liar,'' said J. Craig Herman of Pahoa, Hawaii, a former U.S. naval officer and registered Republican. ``Real heroes and real Navy officers do not not waltz around with a ... camera taking pictures of themselves on duty.''

While some veterans question Kerry’s military decorations and fault his subsequent actions as a anti-Vietnam War protester, other others say they just never warmed to the Massachusetts Democrat’s personal style.

``There’s something weasely about him,'' said Elliot Olson, a self-described independent voter from Minneapolis. ``You can compare him to Bill Clinton, but with Clinton you know what you’re getting.''

The 63-year-old Kerry said Monday that he might run for president again, perhaps in 2012. He also said he has compiled a dossier on his critics at Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, a group that dogged Kerry in the 2004 race.

The comments, reprinted on political blogs including drudgereport.com, opinionjournal.com and lucianne.com, prompted hundreds of e-mails critical of the Vietnam veteran turned war protestor turned politician.

So what does he know and when did he know it? This should be breaking news if he thinks the GOP will win in 08? Why would he run against an incumbent should a rat win?

Kerry is a blithering idiot. If the favorable media blitz couldn’t get him elected, nothing ever will.

Kerry, you’re married (for now) to a rich chick who loves to not have you around. You’ve also got a decent amount of coin of your own. If you’re going to work every day, you’re doing it for the fun of it. Go get a hobby, moron. Since you’re too stupid to know what to do, which is obvious, let me help you: Retire, go spend some of that marital cash, and take a round-the-world vacation ending at the French Riviera.

Don’t go away mad, just go away. Pulling stupid stunts and proving that you’re an unconscionable attention-whore is not helping you a bit.

So a sitting Senator and Presidential candidate is waving a fistful of dossiers that he has created on a couple of hundred private citizens while he is serving in office.

He won’t do anything now, but if they come out against him during a campaign, then the dossiers will be used to retaliate against them.

He has made this public and the FBI isn’t investigating this little Stalinist yet? The Senate needs to start hearings on this.

So Kerry’s “response” is to compile dossiers on his opponents? How about just releasing his service records. It would shut every Swift Boat Vet up if it is truthful. This is like bragging about having a degree from Harvard then refusing to produce a diploma and attacking people who just want to see it.

Ya know, I think its just possible that he's trying to intimidate the Swiftees into not even considering coming out against him in his senate bid or, perhaps, suggesting to Jeff Beatty that such an alliance would be foolhardy.

Here's a suggestion Mr. Beatty. Get EVERY man-jack you can from the SVPT to stand on the stump with you ... then watch ol' Lurch get the political dry-heaves.

His original discharge (DD-214). Not to be confused with the sanitized version Kerry so proudly displays -- which was issued during the Carter administration. Jimma's blanket amnesty upgraded a lot of less than honorable discharges, and I'll bet Kerry's was one of those.

Hanoi John has gotten more than one DD214. The oldest DD214 that Hanoi has shown is one that Jimmuh Carter "upgraded". His original DD214 is speculated to be other than honorable.

Yeah, I can see a real difference between Clinton and Kerry. Kerry was willing to let his enemies keep breathing.

Re “I’ll bet the SBV4T have compiled more materials as well.”

As a researcher on the book “Unfit for Command”, I can say from my own work that we did not use all the information obtained about Kerry and his Vietnam service and role in anti-Vietnam protests, for several reasons.

1. We were on a very tight research/editing deadline so much more information was found after the June 30th, 2004 deadline, and research is still continuing on by a group of historians to track down leads and documents which were known to have existed at one time.

2. Some documents were destroyed in Vietnam as part of routine housecleaning procedure. I would have loved to have found them at the National Archives but they never made it out of Nam. No evil intend; just the clutter of war.

3. Other documents may still exist but they were not properly catalogued for archival saving. They may still show up. I got a piece of one, but could not find sequential reports, etc. There are large gaps in regular document collections for relevant time periods, again a reflection that not everything made it to the U.S. (or Sandy Burgler got to them first).

4. Kerry only released some of his military records to three friendly newspapers/journalists, not all the media as he promised in Jan. 2006. His journals will show him to be a liar as one excerpt about his Special Forces-type hat revealed in a puff piece on him in the Wash. Post.

5. The Wash. Post killed a potentially devastating story on Kerry and the Bay Hap River incident. Let’s say that some of his supporters have been less than truthful.

6. His Joseph Goebbels-like spokesman David Wade has been the key coverup man for him. One day someone might create a list of his lies about the Swifties (I’m not one, but was a Vietnam journalist) as juxtaposed to the truth.

7. No one has been able to find out about Kerry’s two or three trips to Paris to meet with the VC and No. Vietnamese, thought bits and pieces have been found, and they could, if fleshed out, subject Kerry to charges of “treason” and “aiding the enemy.”

Even if Kerry were put under oath (no way with the Democrats in control of Congress), he would either take the 5th about his communist contacts, or would lie.

Time is his protector on this issue, an issue which could put him out of Congress if what a number of us suspect is true, is true. After having worked on internal security issues and communist front operations for over 40 years, I and others know what to look for in terms of a pattern of operational behavior, and Kerry fits it to a “T”.

No one has done a full expose’ on Kerry’s involvement in supporting the Marxist Sandinistas in Nicaragua in the 1980’s, other than some brief items in Stephen Powell’s “Covert Cadre” book and some smaller workers by Michael Waller, Lyn Boucher, and Alan Brownfeld for the Council for Inter-American Security.

No one has explored Kerry’s hiring communists and liars for his congressional committees and/or own staff. This is a landmine waiting to explode.

How about Kerry’s fundraising letter for the communists in El Salvador, complete with his picture on it?

And the beat goes on. Kerry has more skeletons in his closet than a graveyard and he will try to squash anyone who exposes him.

Kerry has no honor, no morals, no conscience and he has proven this since Vietnam. Why should he stop now?

The reason Kerry (or is it CARY) didn’t sue any of the Swiftboat Vets. is because if he had done so, he would have had to testify under oath about his actions and would have been proven a liar in a court of law.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about. My point is that the DD-214 that Kerry displays is NOT the one he got on the way out. The one he shows is a replacement version that was issued during the Carter administration -- long after his release from active duty and from any subsequent reserve obligation. What makes such timing especially interesting is that part of Carter's blanket amnesty to Vietnam draft dodgers provided for upgrades of many less than honorable discharges to honorable. Given that Kerry's treasonous public behavior -- especially during his protests in Europe -- occurred while he was still a reserve Navy officer, one wonders why he will only show us that substitute, Carter-era DD-214. What would the original form reveal?

Also, since that award was after he was separated, it should have been on a DD-215, which is a correction to and supercedes the DD-214.
The DD-214 that was on his web site with the SS/with V (HA) looks like it was just ‘copied’ from the BZ/with V that he received...

It wouldn't surprise me that he didn't tick off some YN and he purposely did that.

Granted the Officers may be handled differently than us Enlisted types but in this type of paper work, I doubt it.

Not happy alienating half the country, Kerry - by making a inadvertent prediction of failure in 08 by Dems - just pissed off another 20 percent or so on the Left that are paying attention.

Given the mistakes he keeps making, I now have a better understanding why he choose ‘marrying up’ as his primary professional occupation.....
