An attempt by the political class in Maine to extend term limits from four terms to six has been defeated. The Bangor Daily News is reporting 67% againt the measure and only 30% in favor. This is one of the bluest of blue states with the Democrats holding a large majority in the state house of representatives.

my vote was in the 67%

and I voted against most of the bond issues - they were all in the tens of millions - good grief, there’s only a million and a half men, women, children and cats in the whole state...

Not to mention that Maine has the highest taxes in the nation at 13% - with NY next at a full % point lower! Yep. First for taxes, 34th for income....to damn many decades of democrat rule. Maine used to be solid republican, but through a lot of illegalities come vote counting time, they got control and keep control. and now we have Gov Baldaci - everything his eye falls on is looked upon as a taxable commodity

Apparently the pigs don’t like losing their spot at the trough. Term limits for EVERY politician, local, state, or national would save America—if it’s not too late....

Voters turned thumbs down to the Rats' attempt to regain lifetime tenure. This has implications for a similar attempt in California to weaken term limits.
