Mike Huckabee Speaks for Himself on Immigration
The Duncan Hunter Grass Revolt ^ | 11-7-07 | SK Johnson

Here are a few things Mike Huckabee has said about Immigration in the past. Though I do have some respect for some of Huckabee’s common sense, even on certain issues of immigration, the following illustrates some comments he has made and positions he has taken that are worth raising an eyebrow over.

—–

“I would hope that no matter who we are, or where we are from, that America should always be a place that opens its arms, opens it heart, opens its spirit to people who come because they want the best for their families …,” -Mike Huckabee [spoken along with Tyson Foods Inc. Chairman and CEO John Tyson, at a noon luncheon of the League of United Latin American Citizens]

“‘Pretty soon, Southern white guys like me may be in the minority,’ Huckabee said jokingly as the crowd roared in laughter. He told the LULAC delegates that their presence in the state’s capital city was very important because Arkansas has one of the fastest growing Hispanic populations in the nation. ‘Your gathering is so very significant for our state,’ Huckabee said. ‘We are delighted to have you.’”

You forgot to add “aspirations of citizenship” for criminal aliens....

When asked about a fence: “If it would even work” was his reply. FRed is another pro-amnesty, open-borders, globalist. His “tough talk” on immigration is nothing more than hot air from a bloated windbag.

Typical Huckster... thinking that a well articulated spin is more important than facts, quotes or his track record.

I suspect Huckabee is running as essentially an audition to become the vice presidential nominee should one of the two Yankees who are the front runners (Giuliani and Romney) get the nomination. If he can win or have a second place showing in the Southern primaries, Huckabee will have some selling points to the front runners, who have weak appeal south of the Potomac and Ohio rivers.

I think you're right. And that would be a disaster for the party and the country, especially if it's a Giuliani/Huckabee ticket
